Our Amazon Business team is rapidly growing and we're looking for a Manager, Software Development to be the technical lead in charge of launching a new business venture globally.

While we can rely on Amazon's existing capabilities in user experience, convenience, selection, pricing and logistics, we need to invent a new way that we will serve the needs international businesses and other institutional buyers - from the kinds of products we offer to how we deliver them.

The ideal candidate will have a strong track record of being able to both Think Big in developing something from scratch and Diving Deep looking around every corner to ensure we deliver a world class solution. All the while, this leader will have an extremely high bar f how we meet the needs of our varied Customers.

You will need to thrive on delivering results in an ambiguous, fast-paced environment. S/he will be a thought leader who can build new business models, address unmet customer needs and invent new solutions. This individual will lead a dedicated software development team to build a brand new solution for international business customers.

Here are a few exciting things about this role: (1) The B2B market is estimated at $13.2T and AB has just started; the growth potential is tremendous. (2) Amazon was a consumer focused company first; it doesn't yet work well with Enterprise companies. This role provides a rare opportunity to be involved in understanding the end-to-end solution for how Amazon solves eCommerce at scale and then using that knowledge to shift the architecture to best enable Amazon Business. This requires innovation in large scale, highly distributed systems with big data. But don't let this overwhelm you, as it will be a team effort, partnering with some of Amazon's top technical leaders in the space. (3) You will also have the opportunity to collaborate with diverse business and technical partners to shape our technology. You will be the voice of our international customers, driving technological innovation to create an unparalleled business procurement experience. This role reports to the Senior Manager and there is a strong preference for this position to be in Seattle, but open to these additional locations: Austin, TX, Boston, MA, New York, NY, Phoenix, AZ. Relocation offered from within the US to any of these locations.

Key job responsibilities

-Usage of design patterns, re-use and efficient coding best practices to deliver high-quality work on tight schedules.

-Partner with offshore development team(s) for successful software delivery.

-Design and develop end-to-end solutions that enhance software architecture and automate solutions.

-Leverage cutting edge tech to implement solutions

-Build reliable, high-performance Web Services, APIs, Micro-Services, Micro-Frontends, and SDKs that improve customers' experience

-Learn from others and help grow those in your team to achieve their best

-Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills

About the team

As a Software Dev Manager on AB Services team, you will join a highly technical and entrepreneurial team building applications to change the B2B e-commerce segment. You will participate in the full development cycle, end-to-end, from design, implementation, and testing to documentation, delivery and maintenance. You will evaluate and make decisions around the use of new or existing technologies and tools, and you'll coach and mentor junior development engineers. We work in an entrepreneurial environment and deliver value incrementally and frequently. We are still in the early stages of development, so it is going to be Day1 everyday on the team!

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- 3+ years of engineering team management experience

- 7+ years of engineering experience

- 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience

- Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations

- Experience partnering with product or program management teams

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy

- Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $148,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $287,700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
