Industry: Operations, IT, \u0026 Support Engineering
Salary: Competitive
Job type: Full-Time
Global Edge Compute Infrastructure Engineering is looking for a Manager of Software Development to oversee a team that manages more than one million edge compute devices worldwide using Infrastructure as Code. Amazon's scale and growth brings big challenges in automated deployment, scaling, and self-healing to reduce operations to zero, while maintaining high availability.
The number of devices in Amazon Fulfillment is always growing and the services supporting these devices need to scale with the business. Can you manage teams of engineers to build software to automatically handle 99% of business needs with no manual steps? Do you enjoy inspiring teams to build automation to support everything from OS deployments to self-healing workflows? If so, this team may be right for you.
As a Manager in our org, you will oversee a team of Software Development and Systems Development Engineers to build services to consistently manage the device fleet. You will drive the team to build for the long term, but build incrementally to provide progressive gains. You will anticipate the business needs and create flexible services that can satisfy the known requirements today, but also future requirements not yet invented. Your leadership and guidance will ensure high standards and you will be ultimately responsible for the quality of services your team creates.
Key job responsibilities
As a Software Development Manager you will:
- Lead a team of experienced Software and Systems Development Engineers.
- Create novel solutions to manage edge devices with no standard management facilities
- Use software development methodologies to guide the team's workload and communicate to stakeholders.
- Meet with stakeholders regularly to ensure your solutions are meeting the needs of the business.
- Participate in strategic planning, brainstorm improvements, and work to uphold the quality bar across the organization.
- Work closely with other Automation and Information Security teams.
