Job Summary
Reporting to the Vice President for Planning and Capital Projects, the Manager of Supplier Diversity for Facilities is responsible for directing, managing, and coordinating activities and operations in support of university contracting opportunities for Disadvantaged Business Enterprises (DBE) and Small Business Enterprises (SBE), specifically as it relates to construction, facilities, and operations. The Manager will work in collaboration with the Office of Institutional Diversity, Equity, Advocacy and Leadership (IDEAL), Purchasing Services, and the Vice President of Planning and Capital Projects to develop and implement strategic plans to increase supplier diversity.

This role will serve as a key resource regarding construction industry trends and best practices in supplier diversity as well as remain knowledgeable concerning the availability, capabilities, and development of diverse suppliers. This position will have a critical role in community relations through interaction with the diverse supplier community, labor unions, government agencies, and non-governmental organizations (including but not limited to, Economy League, Philadelphia Anchors for Growth & Equity, etc.) that focus on development and economic empowerment of diverse firms in the fields of planning and design, construction, operations and maintenance and service operations.

Performs other work related duties as assigned.

Required Education & Experience:
* A bachelor's degree and at least four (4) years procurement or directly related experience is required.
* An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Preferred:
* Demonstrated experience of success cultivating and maintaining strong connections with SBE, DBE or WMBE.

Required Skills & Abilities:
* Demonstrated ability to maintain close, effective and cooperative relationships with professional associations and special interest business associations required.
* Proven track record of managing vendor relationships.
* Working knowledge of supplier diversity programs, supplier contracting practices, and governmental regulations pertaining to diversity suppliers required.
* Demonstrated ability to successfully lead and manage strategic initiatives required.
* Demonstrated contract negotiation experience required.
* Demonstrated aptitude to think creatively and to identify new ways to approach old problems.

Preferred
* Experience working with supplier diversity matters within the design and construction industry preferred.
* Direct experience in the construction industry of managing operations in a construction enterprise-related entity , field operations and conducting business preferred.
