About this role

What will you be responsible for?
Responsible for developing, leading and the implementation of standardized global Weighing, Sampling and Moisture Determination (WSMD) best practices for Newmont's concentrate and Dore worldwide. This role involves creating and managing global integrated reporting tools and dashboards, including monthly and quarterly management reporting and analysis. Additionally, the position oversees the quality control of concentrate & Dore sales, including laboratory quality assurance (QA/QC) and customer assay performance. Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders, the role provides oversight and drives excellence in performance and delivery of value and prevention of value leakage through Newmont's concentrate and Dore value chain.

Your role will consist of

Here is a snapshot of what your day to day will look like:
Technical Management and Oversight:
  • Implementation of standardized global WSMD practices for Newmont's concentrate and Dore portfolio.
  • Manage concentrate and Dore value chain Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QAQC).
  • Develop and integrate sustainable best practices into the Commercial team for assay management and oversight.
  • Implement standardized procedures for Newmont's global portfolio of Dore and concentrates with a focus on technical marketing and value preservation.
  • Ensure continual compliance with local and global regulatory requirements and industry standards related to the technical marketing of concentrates and Dore.
  • Coordination with Newmont's operations regarding the quality of concentrates being produced, providing feedback, and assessing the qualities against contractual requirements to maximize the net smelter return.
  • Manage production quality issues with sites and Sales & Marketing team to ensure impacts are well understood, managed and risks are mitigated.
  • Manage relationships with supervision companies and labs.
  • Management of Round Robins with labs (internal and external).
  • Provide Sales and Marketing team feedback & recommendations over umpire vs settlement decisions.
  • As needed, engage with Standard setters and oversight bodies to ensure impartial focus of standards.
  • Supporting the Sales and Marketing team in the development and optimization of sales strategy to maximize the commercial outcome for the managed operations.

Reporting, Analysis, and Continuous Improvement:
  • Review and ensure monthly and quarterly management reporting and analysis provides key sustainability metrics, trends, and action plans.
  • Establish baselines, metrics, and performance KPIs around assays and WSMD.
  • Development of reporting and monitoring tools and dashboards.
  • Review & manage quality control over the WSMD of concentrate sales - including QA/QC of the labs, customers assay performance, building tools to analyze & track performance.

Your training, skills and experience

Here is what we need to see from you!
Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Metallurgy, Mining Engineering, Business, Marketing, Finance, Economics, or another related field is required. Master's degree is preferred.
  • 7+ years of relevant experience, including at least experience working in mining, with commercial experience, and reporting/FP&A related capacity at a mining or related resources industries is preferable.
  • Knowledge of responsible concentrates and Dore industry best practices and related compliance requirements, including ISO standards.

Experience:
  • Experience in technical marketing, ISO standards as they pertain to Concentrate and Dore weighing, sampling, and moisture determination as well as technical acumen related to assaying methods and best practices.
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills, including data collection and management, with advanced Excel skills or other analytical software such as Power BI would be a plus.
  • Significant experience in Industry and market trend-analysis, metrics/measurement methodology and tools.
  • Essential ability to communicate at all levels from site operational teams to regional leadership, site general managers, and leadership peers.
  • Strong cultural and cross-functional capability to develop solutions and requirements with ability to support and share experiences with many stakeholders' inputs into requirements for sourcing, contracting, and procurement for managing the enterprise Commercial process, change, and technology globally.

Skills and Abilities:
  • Strong analytical with finance / reporting / analytical experience.
  • Effective communication and influence of stakeholders at all levels.
  • Organized self-starter and autonomous leader (stakeholders and this leader's team may be spread across regions and time zones).
  • Multi- Language (e.g., Spanish, French, or Dutch) skills is a plus.


Working conditions and location

The position is located in Denver, CO.
  • Remote working conditions may be considered.
  • Collaboration and interaction are expected with the entire Commercial team and across the global, regional, and site organization as well as across other service and operational areas of Newmont across multiple time zones.
  • Position may require travelling to domestic and international sites and third-party labs.

The salary range offered for this role is USD $106,800 - $126,825. The salary range is tied to the Colorado market for jobs performed in Colorado. The salary offer to the successful candidate will be based on job-related education, training, and/or experience. The salary offer will not be based on a candidate's salary history at other jobs, and by law, Newmont will not seek information about salary history, and candidates should not share such information with Newmont.

This role will be eligible for participation in a discretionary annual bonus program, pursuant to which an employee may be awarded a percentage of their salary based on the company's performance and their own individual performance.
