How will you make an impact in this role?

The Global Record to Report organization is part of the Global Controllership organization and is responsible for end-to-end accounting operations, financial reporting quality and assurance and US regulatory reporting. The US Regulatory reporting team is responsible for managing and delivering key regulatory reporting filings for American Express.

This individual will join the Basel Reporting team to lead the efforts on understanding and documenting the requirements for the Basel Endgame as proposed by the FFIEC. In addition, the individual will also be responsible for current Basel reporting practices, including process documentation, interpretations, and assumptions review, as well as other BAU activities. The position will involve close interactions and collaboration with other teams, such as Treasury, SEC, FRQA, and others.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Support the Basel team with process documentation, inclusive of interpretations, assumptions, procedures, and controls, and other BAU activities.
  • Collaborating with colleagues across groups within American Express to ensure Basel reporting requirements and associated data elements are captured appropriately for Basel Endgame.
  • Work closely, coordinate, and collaborate with various Subject Matter Experts and External Reporting leaders to identify and document the impact of Basel Endgame on regulatory reporting.
  • Drive implementation of Basel Endgame analytical reporting processes, procedures and systems using the Company's control framework.
  • Assist in formulating responses to inquiries from the Federal Reserve and key internal stakeholders, while supporting our strong working relationships and communication with the various regulators.
  • Support/lead special projects including partnering with American Express Technologies on key automation initiatives and enhancing policies and procedures around the regulatory reporting process.
  • Provide leadership to Financial Analysts in the Regulatory Reporting team.
  • Provide career development opportunities for Regulatory Reporting team members.

Minimum Qualifications

· 5+ years of experience in Accounting / Reporting / Auditing.

· Experience working in financial services or other highly regulated environment.

· Strong understanding of U.S. Regulatory and U.S. GAAP requirements.

· Ability to manage multiple priorities, drive projects, and work well under tight deadlines.

· A quick learner with superior problem-solving skills, who is focused on generating efficiencies and continuous process improvements.

· Strong written/oral communication, relationship building, presentation and collaboration skills.

· Proven ability to effectively interact with all levels and stakeholders of an organization including senior leadership/officers, as well as with external regulators and auditors.

Preferred Qualifications

· Prior Regulatory/Federal Reserve/SEC/External Reporting and banking/financial services experience strongly preferred.

· Prior experience assisting with preparation of Regulatory Reports required by FRB is a plus.

· Graduate degree, CPA/Chartered Accountant, or similar qualification, preferred.

Qualifications

Salary Range: $80,000.00 to $155,000.00 annually + bonus + benefits
