Become a member of our growing UX/UI practice and immerse yourself in the world of human-centric design. As a Manager, UX/UI Research & Design, you'll draw on your business acumen and expertise in design thinking, UX/UI, and service design to lead as a player-coach who transforms holistic experiences across a portfolio of products and services.

People will be at the center of your everyday work. By engaging with users and collaborating closely with your team, stakeholders and senior leadership, your ability to listen, empathize, and advocate for their needs will be the driving force behind satisfying end-user experiences.

In this role, you'll embark on a journey of discovery, framing problems with your creative and analytical thinking. You'll utilize research, data, and industry best practices to make strategic design decisions. You will deeply understand and champion the needs of our end users - people.

Our flexible/ hybrid work schedule includes 3 in-person days at one of our core locations and 2 remote days. Our core office locations include Salisbury, NC , Chicago, IL, Quincy, MA.

Duties and Responsibilities

Within the scope of your end-user portfolio and its orientation to the broader organization, the Manager, UX/UI Research & Design will focus on leading others to deliver great work while demonstrating mastery in these key areas:
• Research & Insights: Setting and upholding best practices that enable designers to act as the voice of their end users and articulate insights in compelling and creative ways.
• User Experience Design: Leveraging teams and user-centric ways of working to orient cohesive underlying models with business strategy, technical feasibility, and end-user needs
• User Interface Design: Illustrating your vision and understanding of advanced principles of design at a holistic portfolio level through prototyping, interaction design, and compelling visual design
• Domain Expertise: Empowering your team to gain and apply expertise about the end users they support, Product fundamentals, the technology landscape at ADUSA, and the business of grocery retail
• Process Leadership: Transforming ways of working with cross-functional peers, stakeholders and leaders on the process and approach for identifying end-user needs and solving problems.
• People Proficiency: Stewarding our team culture, developing trust with your direct reports and stakeholders, managing the development of your direct reports, and creating the team you need.
• Portfolio Execution: Actively overseeing multiple workstreams, offering a vision for your portfolio and setting holistic strategies that coordinate the efforts of your team to deliver quality work with measurable impact.

Qualifications

Demonstrated mastery of UX/UI design principles and deliverables, including human-centered approaches, collaboration, user research methods, user personas, service blueprints, information architecture, prototyping, knowledge of product development lifecycle and results orientation.
• You have a Bachelor's degree in Design or related field and Masters Degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Business Administration (relevant bachelor's degree and equivalent certifications from an accredited program in UX/UI, human-computer interaction, information science, digital media, product design, or on-the-job experience will be considered)
• You have 5 or more years of professional experience in UX/UI design
• You have 2 or more years of experience an advanced design role in support of digital product development or product innovation
• You have 2 or more years of experience directly responsible for onboarding, developing and overseeing UX design team members in relevant technologies, capabilities or skills
• You've led complex design programs from discovery through delivery, consistently delivering high-quality results.
• You have (and can't wait to share) in-depth knowledge of human-centered design, qualitative and quantitative research methods, user interface models, application design and website functionality.
• You facilitate workshops and have a knack for gaining consensus among large, diverse groups.
• You more than know your way around collaborative design and prototyping tools, such as Mural, Miro, Figma, InVision, Sketch and Adobe Creative Suite.
• You've tamed the Format Pane in the Microsoft Office suite, including Word, PowerPoint and Excel, and know which tool is best when sharing ideas with different groups.
• You know enough about front-end languages (like HTML), computer-information systems, data-analysis fundamentals and data-visualization tools (like Power BI) to hold up your end of a conversation with engineers and analysts.

Preferred Qualifications

• You're insatiably curious, positively resilient, intentionally inclusive, and unapologetically creative. You do the right thing and know how to put fun in scope
• You have a post-graduate degree, advanced training and/or certifications in relevant field(s) of study
• You have 3 or more years of experience in Agile teams and/or product-based operating model
• You have 3 or more years of experience in leading others or advancing a enterprise design thinking within an organization
• Experience in retail or grocery
