Job Summary:

  • Responsible for collaborating with hospital staff to develop and implement volunteer roles that meet the needs of our departments and enhance the patient experience.
  • Recruits, places and on-boards volunteers within regulatory and legal parameters.
  • Oversees daily operations of administrative and volunteer staff within specialty programs including the high school and college volunteer programs as well as Research.
  • Collaborates with other department staff to improve impact and efficiency of services and enhance the volunteer experience.
  • Develops relationships with and partners with the local community to showcase volunteer opportunities that will develop into a talent pipeline for the hospital.
  • Will be required to sit for Certified Administrator of Volunteer Services Administrator (CAVS) exam within two years.
  • Oversees placement of HHC System-wide Research volunteers
  • Reports to the Director of Volunteer Services


Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in healthcare management, behavioral sciences, leadership and organizational development, personnel administration, business management or communication or CAVS certification required.
  • Minimum one to three years experience with oversight of volunteer services or community services program including recruitment, quality control and development.
  • Outstanding written, verbal and online communications skills
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities, human relations skills, conflict management, decision making ability, and ability to generate new ideas and innovations.
  • Demonstrated personal commitment to philosophy of volunteerism.
  • Demonstrated ability to relate to persons of all ages and diverse backgrounds, skills and abilities.
  • Ability to establish collaborative relationships within and outside the organization
