The Corporate Real Estate team is composed of Planning and Development and Airport Affairs. These two teams work together to secure lease spaces and run all major construction and renovation projects at our hubs, stations, and city locations across the world.



Job overview and responsibilities

Leads team in the management of master planning, commercial and facility needs, project portfolios, design, and safety. Leads and mentors internal planning staff, coordinates the development of airport master plans in collaboration with airport planning teams, provides mentorship on benefit-cost analysis of proposed investments, gate analysis and terminal layouts. Responsible for creating and reporting on project, program, and portfolio KPIs. Leads teams in the completion of feasibility studies, programming, cost estimating, master planning, conceptual and detail design, interior fit out, workplace studies and execution of enabling and infrastructure related modification projects to confirm they are completed on time, on budget and within quality and safety standards.

  • Leads effective teams uses technical knowledge and experience combined with eye for business to provide thoughtful decision making and guidance in strategic implementation of United's objectives and initiatives.
  • Solution oriented and committed to creating and sustaining a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.

    Airport point of contact for with external brokers, facilities management.
  • Liaise with Legal, Finance and other internal collaborators to ensure business standards adhered to in commercial practices.
  • Provide local/airport oversight of CRE safety function, including facilitating, advising, and training Safety Risk Management (SRM), ensuring all functions within CRE adhere to company safety standards.
  • Provides oversight of a team of staff resources responsible for delivering design and construction on large scale airport and non-airport development projects.
  • High level business case development, executive reporting and presentations and partner management.
  • This position is Hybrid to Chicago, Washington DC/Northern Virginia, or New Jersey (3-4 days in office when not traveling).
  • Travel is 30 - 50%.

Qualifications

What's needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):

  • Bachelor's degree; Aviation, Business Administration, Architecture, Engineering, Finance or Operations field.
  • 15+ years of related work experience.
  • Strong executive presence and ability to develop and deliver clear, concise, and compelling executive-ready communications.
  • Airport/Aviation project management and/or portfolio management experience.
  • Strong critical thinking capability.
  • Self-directed and creative problem solver.
  • Strong business insight and understanding of the business.
  • Ability to drive clarity from ambiguity and adapt quickly to a changing environment.
  • Analytical problem solver with a creative and innovative approach to problem solving.
  • Insightful with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Able to work effectively at all levels in an organization.
  • Strong Microsoft Office Suite Knowledge.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship.
  • Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification.
  • Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position.
