The Manufacturing Engineer / CNC Programmer supports the design and manufacture of the Cone Drive Harmonic Solutions product line. This position is responsible for developing, implementing, and executing manufacturing processes, along with continuous improvement of existing processes. This position will interface and collaborate with a cross functional team including Operations, Quality, Design Engineering, and Product Development.

Duties include, but not limited to the following:
  • Develop and implement CNC programs and detailed process plans for precision milling, mill-turning and grinding
  • Specify and implement workholding and cutting tools for manufacturing operations
  • Create and maintain process instructions (routings, work instructions, procedures...etc.)
  • Develop standard work and time standards for machining and assembly processes
  • Define inspection methodologies and support quality issues
  • Provide daily support to shop floor to maintain production
  • Train operation personnel on the execution of manufacturing methods and processes
  • Support production launch and improvement activities for new and existing programs
  • Support the specification and launch of new equipment and processes
  • Apply LEAN manufacturing techniques to facilitate TAKT, flow, pull, waste reduction, and support a continuous improvement culture
    • Participate in cost reduction exercises
    • Troubleshoot processes to reduce quality defects
  • Support NPI projects
  • Support product design activities to ensure manufacturing processes are developed in parallel and taken into account to support product and customer requirements
  • Discuss and solve complex problems in a team setting
  • Maintain positive outlook and encourage and grow the team
  • Research areas for continuous improvement in all areas of the Harmonic product line

Required and Preferred Experience:
  • BS in mechanical or manufacturing engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years relevant experience with emphasis in precision machining environment.
  • Minimum of 2 years relevant experience running production machines, both manual and CNC
  • Knowledge of common machine tools including lathes, mills, mill/turn, and grinders
  • Experience with process, tooling, and fixture design
  • Experience programming of 3, 4 and 5 axis CNC machines. Preferably in ESPRIT
  • Experience and understanding of precision inspection methods and equipment
  • Experience in SolidEdge, SolidWorks, or similar CAD software capabilities
  • Proficient in MS Office
  • Knowledge of special processing operations such as Heat Treating, Non-Destructive Testing, Shot Peening, Coating, Plating and Painting
  • Knowledge of quality systems, including PPAP, FMEA, Control Plans, GR&R, Process Capabilities Studies
  • Understanding of GD&T
  • Project Management skills
  • Critical thinking, analytical and problem solving skills
  • Self-motivated with strong drive to complete tasks and projects
