Position Summary

Develop and maintain process routers and documentation to ensure an effective and efficient process of manufacturing seamless rolled rings with high quality standards including raw material, billet preparation, upsetting, ring rolling, heat treatment, and inspection. Create cost quotes fulfilling customer expectations while reflecting existing capabilities and improving the costing accuracy. Assure continuous improvement of the manufacturing processes in the ring rolling facility as well as in the hand-over to the customer or bearing plants. Support facilities and maintenance with TPM initiatives. Also, provide technical support to the manufacturing facility while optimizing the balance between quality, productivity, and sales.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Individual Responsibilities & Accountabilities:

Review of customer inquiries and specification by adapting existing manufacturing capabilities in the most effective way.

Estimate manufacturing and product cost on designated models using PreCalc.

Perform commercial machined ring costing.

Review and release EFOIS orders for production.

Review customer order information and recommend changes in specifications and internal standards if needed.

Create routers, process standards, and respective information in SAP.

Create and revise process-engineering drawings using AutoCAD/Inventor.

Propose, initiate, and perform process analysis, cost reduction and improvement projects with respective development orders, documentation and controlling.

Assist in the evaluation, selection, and activation of capital equipment.

Design and development of special tooling using AutoCAD/Inventor, assist in technical and commercial discussion with tooling vendors and assist in perishable tooling inventory management and evaluation.

Support the RRM Maintenance supervisor and maintenance team with CI initiatives specifically focused on the TPM roadmap step level organization and improvements, TPM audits as well as improved management and visibility of the critical spare parts program.

Provide structure and support to the maintenance team in efforts of furnace standardization and management relative to performing SAT's and explore potential for internal TUS capabilities.

Act as liaison between management and hourly employees, as well as between Aurora and Florence personnel.

Contribute to the development and maintaining of the SQDC board and KPIs at the plant level.

Evaluate and Maintain plant layout in AutoCAD.

Confer and provide feedback to supervisor concerning problems requiring further approval or guidance.

Maintains a safe working environment by complying with all safety and environmental policies in the workplace.

Team Responsibilities & Accountabilities:

Attend plant production meetings.

Initiate continuous improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives at the plant level (Six Sigma, 6S, SMED, etc.)

Attend plant continuous improvement and SQDC meetings.

Provide support and feedback to the production team to ensure a quality product is produced on-time and to the customer's expectations.

  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Education Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering or similar Engineering discipline preferred (Focus on Forging or Metallurgy).
  • 4-5 years of related experience and /or training in ring rolling or forging environment similar to Rotek.
  • Proven material (steel), forging, and heat treatment knowledge and experience especially in the field of bearing and aero steels, billet sawing, upset and piercing processes, ring rolling process, heat treatment of steel including quenching and temper, and forge related inspection technologies, best case even rough turning.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or Lean Manufacturing experience.
  • Understanding of cost calculation.
  • Computer experience including AutoCAD, Microsoft Office incl. Project, SAP, etc.
