ABOUT THE ROLE

This is an onsite internship in Houston, TX for Summer 2025.

The Manufacturing Safety Technician at Cornerstone Building Brands will analyze data captured in "Origami" and "Corvex" systems and deploy actions to mitigate safety risks based on the data. This intern will also attend safety meetings and cadences and help contribute to executing the actions determined from those cadences. This role will report to the EHS director of the Shelter Division that has EHS responsibility over 83 manufacturing and distribution locations that includes one of the largest private truck fleets in the US. Shelter designs and manufactures metal buildings and metal buildings components serving the Pre-Engineered Metal Building Industry since 1927.

WHAT YOU'LL DO
  • Partner with manufacturing operations to deploy clear actions that reduce risk of injury, improve working conditions, and lower industrial hygiene risk exposure levels.
  • Identify hazards, select and influence resources in manufacturing, and implement fixes on the shop floor to eliminate or reduce the hazards.
  • Oversee and manage select EHS programs data and leverage the data to target highest risk areas to focus resources on
Qualifications

WHAT YOU'LL NEED
  • Pursuing a bachelor's degree or higher in Occupational Health and Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Manufacturing Engineering or Industrial Engineering, or related field
  • Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety concepts is preferred
  • Experience with identifying and reducing safety hazards and risk levels is preferred
  • Experience in working with data and web-based systems is preferred
