PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Store, rebuild, pre-assemble, and disassemble a variety of tooling, supplies, machine parts and materials. Inspect and gauge a variety of tools, machine parts, etc. visually and dimensionally for required specifications and surface defects.
WORKING PROCEDURE:
Receive work assignments from supervisor or Area Manager.
Manually remove and return items from storage as required.
Check "Change Notice" sheet from Production Control and print KBE sheets to determine which items of tooling are to be retained from the current run and use on the new run. Obtain the proper tooling needed for the changeover and load onto changeover carrier ensuring that all tooling sent to the line corresponds with the KBE sheet. Unload and clean the returning changeover carriers and store the tooling in the proper locations.
Examine parts for surface defects and excessive wear and/or abuse. Check material for proper dimensions using micrometers, gauges, masters, and indicators. Wash the tooling parts as necessary. Label and store tooling and parts held for engineering requests.
Assemble, and pre-set items such as shoes, shoe holders, shoe holder brackets, work blades, and loaders to set-up masters.
Replace and/or make minor repairs, to such items as tapped holes, nicks, bad screws, pins, and bushings. Store and route items in need of repair through the appropriate tool room.
Read blueprints to determine proper dimensions to check scrap size and tolerance when performing such tasks as pre-assembling and rebuilding.
Perform miscellaneous duties such as coating machines surfaces on tooling, advising the Area Supervisor or Senior Buyer of items requiring expediting or unusual demand; completing work tickets, viewing/printing tool lists as source data for inquiries, making purchases locally for emergency situations, and keeping equipment and work area clean and orderly.
Education & Experience:
Technical or mechanical background preferred.
Proven record of reliable attendance, strong work ethic and team skills.
Demonstrated strong math and mechanical skills.
Must have high school or general equivalency diploma (GED)
Must be eligible to work in the U.S.
