Position Overview
The Shift Assistant works in a fast paced manufacturing environment performing various operation functions to maintain product flow and inventory accuracy to support business unit goals. Under close supervision, responsible for complex operations in production, applies technical knowledge and follows detailed work instructions procedures, material specifications to perform a variety of manufacturing production tasks on multiple workstations. Cover lead role when needed.

Responsibilities Include:
  • Follow prescribed safety rules and regulations. Ensure all areas of production are safe, maintain a safe working environment for all employees, and enforce all PPE requirements. Contribute to a Safety First Culture by identifying Risky Situations.
  • Ensure jobs are run with correct materials according to job routers including proper serialized components
  • Keep material flow - moving parts to stock physically and in Shop Floor, submitting parts for inspection
  • Ensure materials needed for manufacture per schedule are available, kitted, accessible and clearly identified for all shifts
  • Perform cycle counts, maintain inventory accuracy
  • Coordinate materials needed for inspection are prioritized and available.
  • Print manufacturing orders as needed on floor
  • Issue materials
  • Ensure continuity of production from shift to shift by communicating daily with leads, including discussion of processing, maintenance or quality problems occurring during the preceding shift
  • Read, follow and assist in training and direction of operators on work instructions and technical procedures.
  • Review and scan production records
  • Help maintain usable workspace by moving material not in use to storage locations physically and in shop floor
  • Maintain frequent coordination with Production Supervisor, manager and lead to freely exchange ideas and to review shift activities.
  • Operate / relieve operators on multiple workstations / presses in accordance with detailed work instructions Operate molding equipment, assembly, metal prep, paint of a variety of products based on work cell from mechanical assembled or molded products using automatic and manual methods
  • Supervisor will review work for general compliance with accepted practices
  • Work to eliminate non-value added activities. Supporting 5S practices and ensure cleanliness of work stations.
  • Work as part of a team cross-training as needed
  • Help ensure all quality and productivity standards are met on assigned workstations (proper molding, cleaning, marking and packaging of part.
  • Recognize and correct routine process problems (adjust, tune and calibrate instrumentation for optimal performance). Publish routers and procedures on assigned workstations.
Qualification Requirements
  • Ability to interpret drawings and use precision measuring instruments.
  • Able to use a computer to enter and retrieve data.
  • Able to understand functional and business requirements of area and use ERP system to ensure on time shipment of product
  • Able to work extended shift hours and perform moderately strenuous physical tasks.
  • Ability to comprehend and train to documents such as work instructions, safety rules, maintenance instructions and procedure manuals written in English language.
  • Ability to perform repetitive work, change tasks frequently, maintains attention to detail and speed without loss to production.
  • Ability to detect and correct process problems on assigned workstations.
  • Able to communicate with personnel at all levels of the production team.
  • Possess the ability to follow directions from technicians in a professional manner.
  • Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills and advanced math skills are required.
  • Demonstrate flexibility to participate in various activities and tasks based upon needs of the department.
  • Possess basic computer skills to accurately record production data.
  • Work with minimal supervision, while maintaining proper safety, quality and inspection standards.
  • Exhibit a high degree of responsibility with emphasis on safety.
  • Will be required to take fork truck and electronic pallet jack training
  • Will be required to take hoist training
  • Must be US Citizen
