The Development and Intake Liaison initiates one on one dialog with potential referral sources. Also responsible to design, develop and drive sales strategies to increase admissions through long term relationships with referring facilities, clinics, community partners and physicians. Implements an effective marketing plan for achieving budgeted census, patient mix, referral, and contact objectives. In addition, this individual is responsible to identify patients appropriate for admission to the Behavioral Health Unit.

Essential Functions:



• Maintain appropriate statistics and generate report(s) as required by the facility hospitals policy and procedures in addition to the Facility Administrator.



• Communicate with physicians/discharge planner/social worker/other referral sources as needed effectively.



• Conduct sales calls on existing and potential referral sources to maintain a constant flow of referrals and perform problem solving as necessary. Actively identify and follow-up on opportunities to increase profitability, efficiency, and market share.



• Follow - up on internal and external problem(s) as related to referral/admission process to ensure rapid solutions. Maintain knowledge of and effectively promotes programs and internal resources.



• Review and provide written analysis of denial tracking on a monthly basis to Facility Administrator and recommend plan of action.



• Develop and maintain system and/or procedure to increase and maximize inpatient to PHP/IOP or other program at facility conversion rate.



• Review and provide written analysis of referrals and admissions by Medical Director, Hospital, and payer source with recommendation and action plan. Monthly review and analysis of marketing contacts with recommendations and action plan. Monitor and assist with admission/discharge procedure.



• Actively schedule and conduct presentations and tours of the facility to referral sources, professionals, and family members. Participate in community activities that promote the facility service(s). Ensure consistent marketing of facility is implemented - this is including newspaper advertisement, television advertisement, etc..



• Demonstrates effective understanding of legal issues associated with assessment/admission for Voluntary vs. Involuntary status, i.e. 72 Hour Hold, EMTALLA and Mental Inquest Warrant processes as defined in state of practice.



• Assists in workflows from internal ED to inpatient BHU efficiently



• Supports the transfer center referrals to ensure efficient and appropriate conversion of patients for admission



• Ability to cultivate and maintain relationships with internal and external customers as well as maintains patient/family confidentiality and provides sensitive, respectful, and compassionate customer service at all times.



• Ability to work with children, adolescents, adults (18 and over) or geriatric patients experiencing mental illness and acute psychiatric crisis.



• Capable of conducting crisis assessments that includes a mental status exam, suicide and violence assessment, substance abuse assessment, and preliminary diagnosis.



• Knowledge of Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorder V (DSM V) or most current version.



• Present clinical findings to attending psychiatrist and charge nurse.



• Coordinate the transfer of patients from other facilities.

Qualifications

Education/Licensure:



• Bachelor’s degree in a related field required. Master’s degree preferred.



• Clinical Licensure preferred (LCSW, LMFT, LPC, RN, LPN)



• Valid driver’s license



• CPR certification and Crisis Prevention Training (CPI) within 30 days of employment and prior to any patient contact.



Experience:



• Previous experience on an inpatient unit preferred.



• Two years marketing/sales experience preferred.



• Demonstrated healthcare sales experience preferred (lead generation, community education)



• Experience in crisis counseling and crisis evaluations preferred
