Job Summary

This position exists to help coordinate Market Development projects across the agency that promote Destination Development. This position supports and executes strategic initiatives that expand Minnesota's global presence in key market segments. Specifically, this position conducts a broad array of duties in support of Market Development programs; executes marketing and public relations campaigns; provides oversight of international media relations; cultivates and maintains partnerships; leads event and trade show coordination for the department; and assists with presentations, copywriting, research, and general representation of Explore Minnesota in public and industry-facing settings. This position will assist in the day-to-day management of projects with integration/collaboration between internal teams and divisions. The position will work with Market Development Manager and Deputy Director to implement targeted programs statewide, regionally, nationally, and globally to inspire consumers to consider Minnesota as a travel destination.

Job duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Administer consumer and trade marketing and public relations campaigns for Explore Minnesota in international markets.
  • Provides oversight of international communications and media relations.
  • Cultivate and maintain global trade and Minnesota industry relationships.
  • Leads the organization and coordination of tourism-related events, workshops, and familiarization tours.


Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Two (2) years of professional experience in a tourism marketing and/or public relations, international marketing, or destination management or closely related field.

A Bachelor's degree in, TourismMarketing, Public Relation in international Marketing may substitute for one (1) year of professional experience.
  • Experience with media relations and earned media strategies.
  • Experience with written communications, press releases, agreements, contracts, reports and creating presentations.
  • Experience with Microsoft office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams.
  • Demonstrated experience of an understanding of the occupational principles of marketing, program administration, internal programs, and processes.
  • Ability to work independently, organize and conduct in-person and virtual meetings and presentations.
  • Ability to travel in-state and out of state including internationally as needed.
  • Ability to comply with all state policies and procedures to include contracting, RFPs, Purchase Orders, etc.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with tourism marketing, including digital marketing tools and strategies.
  • Knowledge of the Minnesota travel product is preferred.
  • Exhibits professionalism, fosters positive and effective working relationships, complies with applicable statutes, rules, regulations, and policies to effectively carry out the requirements of the position and the goals of the agency.
  • Experience with contracts and managing vendors for goods and services.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and trends.
