Advanced Practice Providers (Nurse Practitioners /Physician Assistants) are a growing and critical segment of healthcare providers (HCPs) delivering patient care. The Marketing & Field Director, APP Strategy, Gastroenterology will join and lead a marketing team and field-based APP Ambassador (APPA) team of over 30. This role will act as a leader in the Gastroenterology marketing team and will report directly to the Director of Marketing. The individual in this position will have responsibility for shaping Market strategy, tactics and field execution specific to the APP customer segment.

The Marketing & Field Director must develop, retain, and motivate direct reports. Responsible for the development of all employees within team by supporting the development of Human Resources Planning (HRP) programs including management development and training to meet current and future business needs. This person will be accountable for meeting key strategic imperatives of the brand and contributing to revenue performance in the U.S. to meet and exceed share goals. Gastroenterology franchise is a highly visible business across JJIM, and this second-level leadership position will create a significant career opportunity. This individual must demonstrate strong leadership presence through influencing without authority with high-level management, attention to detail, and excellent strategic thinking. This position requires extensive interaction with multiple stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

Marketing:

  • Develop, retain, and motivate a high-performance marketing team in a fast-paced environment.


  • Development and execution of APP-specific marketing strategies, positioning, messaging and tactics to drive performance of gastroenterology products


  • Ensure strong partnership with sales and peer marketers responsible for Access/Fulfillment and DTC to ensure strong collaboration and consistency from strategy to execution


  • Work closely with internal partners to translate data into meaningful insights that shape strategy.


  • Play a critical role partnering with cross functional partners including Medical Affairs, Finance, Quality, Sales and cross-franchise marketing to develop plans and tactics for the APP customer segment


  • Build relationships and work effectively with external agencies and key internal partners to ensure prioritized successful tactical execution.


  • Partner with legal, medical, regulatory & HCC to obtain approval of marketing materials.


  • Demonstrate strong strategic and operational planning excellence to ensure proactive and timely cross-functional plans; Responsible for delivering the HCP Marketing Tactical plan and continued optimization of plan in addition to BME accountability

Field-based APP Ambassador team:

  • Responsible for a leading team to educate on IBD patient care, therapeutic options, and champion APP-specific needs. The candidate must be highly collaborative, adept at prioritization, and comfortable aiding the team in securing resources to maximize results.


  • Responsible for the development and execution of an aligned business plan, customized to meet the needs of the J&J business and brand strategies while effectively addressing the unique needs and requirements of the customer and the marketplace.


  • Responsible for leading, motivating, coaching, developing, and retaining a diverse team of individuals who are technically competent and have varying levels of industry and business experience.


  • Shape internal and external stakeholders to build mutual alignment, adopt difficult positions, and achieve outcomes that are both customer-centric and company responsible. All responsibilities will be carried out with strict adherence to the J&J Credo and HCC guidelines.


  • Set overall account goals and objectives, and lead development and provide oversight of account metrics and business performance.

Qualifications

  • B.A./B.S. is required. An MBA or other related advanced degree is preferred.
  • A minimum of 10 years of commercial or related business experience, of which at least 5 years of successful pharmaceutical marketing.
  • A minimum of 3 years of people leadership experience is required.
  • Candidate must have a demonstrated track record of business results, storytelling competencies and a comfort in trying new things
  • Strong learning agility and command of clinical data preferred
  • Ability to influence large/diverse teams without direct authority is required.
  • Strong verbal, written and executive communication skills are required along with demonstrated presentation skills
  • Sales or Sales leadership experience is preferred
  • Agency/ vendor relationship management required
  • Demonstrated success partnering with customer-facing teams is preferred
  • Must have a strong sense of urgency and big picture orientation with attention to detail
  • Continual assessment of the competitive landscape to inform strategic choices
  • Must be innovative, proactive, and strong analytically with excellent overall business acumen.
  • Excellent leadership, decision-making process, and ability to influence with a heightened ability to collaborate and work with a team to deliver results
  • This role is based in Horsham, PA (3 days/week) and requires up to 50% domestic travel
