We are developing the future of Army Aviation with the Bell Future Long-Range Assault Aircraft (FLRAA) part of the US Army's Future Vertical Lift (FVL) modernization effort. We are also developing the Bell 525 Relentless and Bell's High-Speed Vertical Take-Off and Landing (HSVTOL) program, a next generation stop-fold tilt-rotor. This position is onsite in Fort Worth.

Mass Properties Engineering

In this analysis group you will develop models that follow the evolution of an aircraft from its initial design concept thru development, flight testing, certification, thru final delivery to the customer. We predict the weight of initial concepts, perform trade studies during development, assist in envelope expansion of the aircraft during flight testing and work with marketing and sales on final configurations delivered to the customer. This role will be an integral part of the team, working closely with all areas of design engineering and interfacing with program management. You'll be able to hone your technical abilities on significant engineering problems, all while gaining experience in leadership and communication.

What you'll be doing as a Mass Properties Engineer

  • Analyze designs for weight impact and efficiency through all phases of aircraft development and upgrade activities.
  • Inform program management of opportunities and risks of competing design alternatives.
  • Work with computer-aided design tools to capture mass properties data and maintain the mass properties database.
  • Assist in the definition of aircraft flight envelopes, fuel burn excursions, mission balance analysis, and loading configurations.
  • Provide regular updates to design Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) and program management regarding weight and balance status.
  • Support new aircraft and technology development as well as proprietary analytical tools and applications.

Skills You Bring To this Role :

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in engineering. (Multiple career levels will be considered for this position.)
  • Proficiency with computer aided design tools (SolidWorks, Unigraphics, CATIA V5/V6, 3DX, etc.)
  • Proficiency with basic office computer software, specifically the Microsoft office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.).
  • Demonstrated work in a team environment and ability to effectively communication within the team.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize a variety of activities and tasks.


What you need to be successful

    • We are looking for inquisitive and driven engineers with a passion to innovate.
    • Bachelor's degree with a Major in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering.
    • Advanced degrees will be considered as additional experience.
    • Related degrees with relevant experience will be considered.
