Position Summary

Assist in the direction and supervision of material movement and inventory transactions related to the storage and delivery of materials within the manufacturing areas.

Responsibilities

Support and adhere to Parker's Code of Ethics, policies, and procedures and observe housekeeping guidelines. Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned.

Essential

Assist with the planning, layout and assigning of work, instruct, direct, and assist associates in the department.

Assist with the receipt and directing the movement and storage of materials, products, finished goods, and accessories utilizing a forklift and/or a tugger.

Retrieve shipping reports, determine status of shortages, notify departments of shipping requirements as needed and release customer orders as shortages clear.

Order supplies needed for the shipping of finished products.

Determine status of shortages and assist in reconciling inventory accounts and records.

Assist with maintaining various records and conveying work assignments and schedules to all shifts.

Assist shipping clerk with daily requirements to meet customer demand.

Review cell/department information boards and update as required.

Assist Production Control Supervisor and Planners to determine daily requirements to meet manufacturing demands.

Assist associates with the identification of work priorities within the department.

Collaborate with other departments to create and update training documents for material handling functions.

Assist with the training of all associates in the department.

Present information in weekly value stream meetings, respond to questions and inform supervisor of outcome of meetings.

Assist supervisor with assessing performance and recommending changes in associate status.

Contribute to and participate in team and committee activities to promote continuous improvement, communication, and positive change within the organization.

Update and communicate status of all department activities to supervisor.

Maintain department equipment/machines and notify supervisor of unusual equipment or operating problems.

Complete and maintain all necessary record keeping functions.

Follow safety rules and keep work area in a clean and orderly condition.

Qualifications

Qualification Requirements: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. Education and/or Experience: 3+ years of Material Handling experience relative to manufacturing support, receiving, and the maintenance of data used in inventory management.

Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret specifications, work orders or technical procedures. Ability to read and comprehend written and oral instructions, short correspondence, and memos, and write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers/supervisors or other associates of the organization. Ability to communicate information in one-on-one situations to associates, managers, and supervisors.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Reference use of set up sheets, parts drawings, specifications, operation sheets, charts, and tables.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Requires the ability to obtain a forklift operator's certification.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Other Skills and Abilities: Requires the ability to perform materials lead responsibilities and daily material handling functions. Requires the ability to learn and utilize the department software programs and train other associates in its use. Knowledge of material characteristics, and receiving, stockroom, and shipping procedures. Requires the ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality.

While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly required to walk, stand, and sit on a forklift, push and pull objects, bend, reach above shoulders, and lift and/or move 10 to 50 lbs. The associate occasionally is required to use foot/feet to operate equipment and repetitively handle objects. Specific vision abilities required by this job include near and far perception.

While performing the duties of this job, the associate regularly works near moving mechanical parts and airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
