Material Handler
Key Responsibilities:
1. Material Handling:
• Receive, inspect, and unload raw materials, parts, and supplies from suppliers and carriers.
• Organize and store materials in designated locations within the warehouse.
• Perform material pick-ups and deliveries as needed using forklifts, pallet jacks, or other equipment.
• Ensure the safe and proper handling of fragile and heavy materials.
• Verify the accuracy of incoming materials and reconcile discrepancies.
2. Inventory Management:
• Maintain accurate inventory records and conduct regular cycle counts.
• Monitor stock levels and initiate reorder requests to prevent shortages.
• Implement first-in, first-out (FIFO) inventory control methods.
• Collaborate with the production team to ensure materials are readily available for production needs.
3. Production Support:
• Deliver materials and components to the production line in a timely and efficient manner.
• Work closely with production personnel to ensure materials are available as needed.
• Assist in kitting and preparing materials for upcoming production runs.
• Remove and handle scrap materials for proper disposal or recycling.
4. Quality and Safety:
• Perform regular inspections of materials and equipment for safety and quality compliance.
• Report any material damage, defects, or safety concerns to the appropriate supervisor.
• Adhere to safety procedures and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
• Handle hazardous materials following safety guidelines and regulations.
Qualifications:
• High school diploma or equivalent; additional training or certification in material handling is a plus.
• Previous experience as a material handler in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
• Forklift operation certification and experience.
• Basic computer skills for data entry and inventory management.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with other departments.
• Detail-oriented and safety-conscious.
• Ability to lift heavy objects and stand for extended periods.
• Willing to work overtime as required. This may include weekends.
