  1. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND PURPOSE (Job Description)

Provides material ordering and expediting support; coordinates inventory receipt, storage and distribution, and keeps accurate records. Regular, reliable on-site attendance is an essential function of the job.

  1. POSITION DEMANDS (Education/Training)

Typically has a High School Diploma or equivalent plus a minimum of one (1) years experience in material handling processes .

POSITION DEMANDS (Required Experience)

  1. Good reading and writing skills.
  2. Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  3. Knowledge of computerized material systems, material flow, ordering, expediting, and basic
Shipbuilding techniques is required.
  1. Ability to read blueprints
  2. Ability to lift 50+ lbs.
  3. Must maintain current passport and able to travel internationally for up to 30 days at a time.
  4. Maintain DOT HAZMAT certification for shipping and receiving

  1. WORKING RELATIONSHIPS

Reports to the Logistics Manager. Maintains internal contact with Production Planning, Material Control, Warehousing and all production departments

  1. PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Responsible for prioritizing, tracking and monitoring all material loaded to packages and inform Ships Management and Trade Supervision of any changes that may cause an impact to scheduled work.
  2. Coordinates with receiving, warehousing, and NASSCO fabrication shops to mitigate any schedule impact problems as a result of late material.
  3. Coordinates the shipping of material to both on-site and off-site locations.
  4. Maintains inventory of raw stock via computer files and manual logs.
  5. Orders requested materials via shop order cards, MWRs and IDMs
  6. Investigates misplaced and damaged material and reprocesses necessary paperwork.
  7. Deals directly with vendors, suppliers, and sub-contractors to resolve material issues and expedite delivery to maintain schedule.
  8. Monitor and assist in the collection and transportation of Hazardous Materials.
  9. Coordinates vehicle support for material and personnel movement. Responsible for ensuring daily up-keep and maintenance of Repair vehicles.
  10. Other responsibilities and duties as assigned.

Results directly affect Productions performance to schedule and budget by providing material information for proper production planning and by expediting in plant material processing

Must be able to gain access to Naval Installations. Must be able to travel internationally. Must be able to climb on and around ships. Must be able to handle stressful situations. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, distance, and peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Must be able to commute to various areas in shipyard and Naval Stations. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to dust, welding/burning fumes, and smoke.

May require up to 30% travel including international
