Status:

Full-time (40 hours per week)

Primary Function:
  • Under minimal supervision, the Materials Services Coordinator efficiently and effectively provides an uninterrupted flow of supply and equipment to support all Surgery Center nursing areas.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Oversees the purchasing, planning, shipping/receiving, storing and issuing of materials, supplies and medical instruments.
  • Monitors inventory levels and cycle counts to ensure nursing areas possess adequate quantity of supplies and materials necessary to provide appropriate patient care.
  • Responsible for daily preference card depletion.
  • Provides quality customer service to all people requesting materials, supplies, and instruments.
  • Identifies and develops strategic partnerships with suppliers and vendors in support of the Surgery Center's business goals.
  • Adheres to policies, procedures and regulations to ensure compliance with policies and procedures.
  • Delivers continuous improvement in supplier delivery, quality and cost.
  • Ensures timely receipt of materials to support the production schedule.
  • Schedules material demands and work order completion dates in system to facilitate production schedule.
  • Proactively manages material and work order exceptions and provides feedback to nursing management on critical information.
  • Interfaces with vendors to establish workflow including release dates, releasing order, dates, and cash flow management.
  • Ensures accuracy of inventory data in system including location, quantity on hand, value, etc. Responsible for close of month and biannual physical count.
  • Creates procedures and reporting for the effective management of inventory.

    Educational requirements:
    • HS diploma required. Associates degree preferred

    Experience:
    • Minimum two years' experience in material management preferred
    Working conditions

    Works in a clean, well-lit, ventilated work area. Exposed to biological, chemical, and environmental elements, including infectious waste. Work environment may be noisy and have many interruptions, requiring frequent re-evaluation of priorities.

    Physical requirements

    Walking and standing; stooping, bending, balancing and sitting. The employee should be in good health and fit enough to handle heavy workloads and other strenuous activities. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
