Job Description:
This position supports the Math Tutoring Center at the Manassas Campus. The math tutor will tutor students in credit and developmental math, as well as assist with computer software usage, conduct group study sessions, and other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Duties and Tasks:
  • Take scheduled appointments in both virtual (via Zoom) and in-person formats.
  • Assist with walk-in math tutoring services in the Manassas Math Center when not already scheduled for appointments.
Special Assignments
May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
KSA's/Required Qualifications
Required KSA’s:
  • Knowledge of a wide range of credit math coursework taught in higher education.
  • Must have the ability to assist student in improving academic achievements by meeting with them as needed to clarify learning problems and work on study skills.
  • Additional abilities might include reviewing class material, discussing the text, predicting test questions, formulating ideas for papers or working on solutions to problems.
  • Must have some computer skills and be willing to learn unfamiliar applications.
  • Patience, ability to diffuse math anxiety and ability to explain math concepts in different ways to math students.




Minimum Requirements:
  • Experience in high traffic customer service and/or educational support field
  • Experience using the Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience in a multicultural environment interacting with speakers of varying levels of English proficiency.
