Responsibilities

This position will be located at the new GD-OTS facility located in Mesquite, TX.

SUMMARY: Coordinates incoming and outgoing movement and storage of raw materials, finished products and parts that include functions such as warehousing, shop and delivery services to ensure material availability and delivery when needed to meet production schedules. Compiles data on order volume, production schedules and forecasts and applies statistical methods to estimate future materials requirements

For Mesquite Operations: This will be for Second Shift Position. Second Shift will have a premium.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Performs manual and clerical duties related to shipping, receiving, inspecting, storing, issuing and delivering a variety of materials, equipment and supplies.
  • Counts, weighs or measures incoming or outgoing items to compare identifying information and variety against bills of lading, invoices, orders or other records.
  • Examines incoming shipments for damage or shortages and corresponds with shipper to rectify.
  • Completes paperwork or forms required for documentation.
  • Determines method of shipment utilizing knowledge of shipping procedures, routes and rates. Prepares materials for shipping by weighing, packaging and stamping.
  • Prepares necessary shipping forms such as bills of lading.
  • Operates material handling equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, hand trucks or dollies to move stock or reorganize storage.
  • May also include responsibilities for the following:
    • Maintenance and upkeep of shipping/receiving dock and inventory yard
    • Coordinates with Inventory Control Staff
    • Inventory Data Entry

  • Works within established procedures and guidelines with limited ability to modify approach
  • Completes assigned tasks with a moderate degree of supervision
Qualifications

Education and/or Experience
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Preferred : Vocational/Technical Training Degree
  • 2-4 years prior experience in a similar position.
  • For Mesquite:
    • OSHA- Compliant Forklift Certification
    • CDL
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Oral and Written Communication Skills
  • Ability to understand and follow directions
  • Clerical Skills
  • Ability to lift or move heavy objects.
  • Physical Stamina
  • Mesquite Operations:
    • Audit compliance experience
    • MS Office
Preferred
  • Experience with start ups, such as project planning, and establishing business processes, management systems, and work instructions is desired. This is an exciting opportunity to create the business processes, systems, and culture to stand up a high performing manufacturing operation.
Physical Demands
  • Requires regular movement throughout GD-OTS facilities.
  • May need to stand for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to lift up to 45 pounds.
  • Work may require employee to work inside and outside with exposure to changing climate and/or operate machinery.
  • May be requested to work a different shift
  • Must be willing to work outside of normal business hours as required.
