  • Sitter & Barfoot Veterans Care Center; named for two Medal of Honor recipients - Colonel Van Barfoot and Colonel Carl Sitter - provides the gold standard in quality care for Virginia's Veterans. This single-level facility features 200 single-occupancy rooms across four nursing units.

    Sitter & Barfoot Veterans Care Center (SBVCC) is recruiting for a MDS RN Manager. This position is primarily Monday-Friday 8:00 am - 4:30 pm with an on-call rotation schedule which may include working in the evening, after midnight, or on the weekends. Thisposition comes with a $10,000 sign on bonus.
Job Duties
  • Supervises and organizes the MDS staff on duty for the day making sure expectations are clear, well communicated, and relate to the goals and objectives of the department.
  • Develops and implements the Minimum Data Set schedule in accordance with federal/Medicare regulations assuring the completion of the Nursing Section of the MDS.
  • Leads weekly care plan meeting as assigned and serves as a resource person to staff in care planning.
  • Completes auditing of MDS to ensure maximum reimbursement through CMI.
  • Updates and initiates care plans and all other required assessments quarterly.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Licensed as a registered nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
  • Ability to delegate, communicate and problem solve.
  • Ability to instruct and train residents, families, and staff.
  • Demonstrated experience leading and mentoring staff.
  • Excellent clinical knowledge and skill to assess and develop patient care plans.
  • Considerable experience working with and completing the MDS, in addition to, considerable experience with the RAI process and RUG System.
Additional Considerations
  • Nursing experience in a long-term care or adult geriatric setting.
