Position Description

Summary:

The Mechanic Assistant will assist the mechanic in performing maintenance and repairs on vehicles and equipment.

Primary Job Responsibilities:

•Helps mechanic perform maintenance and repairs such as tune-ups and oil changes, check tires and brakes, replace spark plugs and engages in other similar tasks.

•Assists mechanic with electrical systems such as replacing batteries, starters, and lights.

•Test drives vehicles to ensure repairs are completed property.

•Cleans the shop and returns tools to proper location.

•Maintains inventory of replacement parts and equipment.

•Inspects tools and equipment to ensure they are in working order.

•Updates maintenance and repair logs for vehicles.

•Performs other related duties as assigned.

Position Requirements

Desired Qualifications/Skills:

•High School Diploma or GED preferred

•Knowledge of vehicle repair

•Excellent mechanical skill

•Ability to follow instruction

•Ability to use power and hand tool

•Excellent analytical and problem-solving skill

•Ability to read service and repair manual

•Ability to complete assigned tasks in a timely fashion

•Ability to work in a team environment

•Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency

•Must have a good work ethic and the ability to understand and carry out written and verbal instruction
