Job Summary

Accountable for the performance of required building and maintenance trades at the journeyman level to ensure safe and efficient operation of the Medical Center's facilities. Creates positive relationships, situations, and an atmosphere that promotes effective, efficient, economic, and high quality outcomes. Employee may access secure medication supply areas to complete assigned job duties.

Responsibilities

• Complete assigned repairs and duties at the journeyman skill level and ensures that work areas are left clean and safe. Complete tasks as requested within required standards and time schedules. Can lead team when required. • Troubleshoot, diagnose, repair, and maintain equipment, instrumentation, and facilities used by CAMC. • Perform the duties of Mechanic and Mechanic Apprentice as required. • Complete financial paperwork for any charges incurred. • Provide working positive leadership and training of assigned Mechanic or Mechanic Apprentice. • Be flexible to work at all areas and locations within CAMC as required. • Prepare job progress reports and other paperwork as required. • Performs building and maintenance assignments at the skilled level in at least one of the following areas: Electrical: Read and understand blueprints, plans, service manuals, and electrical drawings and is knowledgeable of the different electrical symbols used in dealing with equipment in the absence of a technical data sheet. Perform repair tasks based on an in-depth knowledge of electrical/mechanical theory and tools used. Calculate system loads and requirements and analyze and troubleshoot all electrical systems. Use voltage meters, install conduits, and is knowledgeable of electrical emergency power.Read, interpret, and apply information from the National Electrical Code (NEC) and can lay out the electrical requirements for scope of work per NEC and other guidelines. Install and troubleshoot electrical components and systems and understands the electrical distribution system from the utility provider throughout all CAMC facilities. Electronics: Read and understand electronic/electrical schematics, drawings, specifications, and service manuals, analyzing printed circuit boards to make necessary repairs. Use equipment analyzers for proper calibration; install, troubleshoot, and repair electronic and electrical equipment, and work with televisions and computers. Understand how to lay out the design of Electrical/Electronic requirements for all work per National Electrical Code (NEC) and other guidelines. Mechanical: Read and understand blue prints and design material in relation to trouble- shooting, diagnosing, and repairing various medical as well as non-medical equipment. Deal with equipment in the absence of a technical data sheet, the incumbent performs repair tasks based on an in-depth knowledge of both mechanical theory and tools used. Should be familiar with steam and hot water generation and properly align axially and angularly balanced pumps, fans, motors, rotors, and compressors. Equipment requiring repair may include air compressors, water pumps, boilers, and fans. Refrigeration - Air Conditioning: Read and understand equipment schematics and systems, read blueprints, and be knowledgeable of the different mechanical systems used. Install air ducts, dampers, and diffusers; balance heating, ventilating, and air conditioning systems; and calculate loads on an air conditioning system. Familiar with air conditioning, centrifugal chillers, and refrigeration operations and maintenance, and operate sheet metal breaker/bender equipment. Be knowledgeable about condensing and evaporating units, be experienced in control piping and electronic controls and thermostats, and accurately estimate amounts of air conditioning and heat required per square foot and repair control piping and electrical components of HVAC systems. Be familiar with control wiring. Structural: Read and understand blueprints, plans, and architectural drawings and be knowledgeable of architectural features and structural installation and repairs. The incumbent performs repair tasks based on knowledge of building repairs, structural materials, finishes, and tools used. Layouts and constructs walls, ceilings, doors, window frames, etc. Successfully applies structural building materials in completion of work. Plumbing: Read, interpret, and apply information contained in service manuals and National and State Plumbing Code. Reads and understands Mechanical/Plumbing drawings. Maintains plumbing license at all times. Keeps current by reading and understanding code changes. Understands the layout and design of Mechanical/Plumbing requirement for scope of work per National and State Mechanical and Plumbing codes, etc. Follows scope of work in installing and troubleshooting the Mechanical/Plumbing components. Successfully applies the use of Mechanical/Plumbing materials in completion of work. Plant System Operator: Read and understand blueprints, plans, and drawings. Possess advanced knowledge of facilities plant systems and functions. Successfully uses appropriate type of materials needed for different plant systems according to codes. Understands and successfully applies all materials and components for CAMC facilities. HVAC: Read, interpret, and apply information contained in service manuals and National/State HVAC Code.
