Design, install, launch and improve High Pressure Die Casting manufacturing lines and all shop requirements.


Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams to gather requirements (e.g. part, rate, schedule, cost, etc.) for new casting lines
  • Specify, design and lay-out equipment for high pressure die casting, from melt through trim, including major equipment and all ancillary items required to operate the cell
  • Design custom fixtures, jigs, tools, etc. as needed, providing detailed build to print models/drawings for fabrication
  • Evaluate failures and provide technical solutions to improve quality and / or OEE in the specified area.
  • Perform major equipment repairs and rebuilds (some weekends and holidays required)
  • Oversee mechanical, electrical and schedule performance of equipment suppliers following Tesla standards, some travel will be required (20%)
  • Commission and troubleshoot new equipment, ensuring performance requirements (e.g. cycle time, uptime) are met
  • Create documentation needed to sustain operation of the equipment (e.g. start up and shut down procedures, operation instructions, troubleshooting manuals, maintenance schedules)
  • Lead the investigation and adoption of new manufacturing technologies and processes


Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • Previous experience in high pressure die casting or similar fields
  • Experience designing manufacturing lines, fixtures and tooling in 2D (AutoCAD) and/or 3D (Catia/SolidWorks/Revit) environments
  • Experience introducing new high pressure die casting equipment from design to launch phase
  • Demonstrated project management abilities
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite
  • Electrical, mechanical and hydraulics background preferred

    • Expected Compensation

      $80,000 - $300,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits

      Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
