Job Description

Come join a talented team of engineers delivering designs for facilities that support the training mission of the world's best Navy. We are seeking highly motivated individuals to work in an autonomous teaming environment and provide timely, high quality, customer serviced based engineering solutions to challenging problems.

Facilities Design Engineering (FDE) provides timely, high quality, customer focused engineering solutions for facilities and infrastructure (F&I) projects. FDE provides engineering oversight for the design of F&I projects and works on multidisciplinary design teams in support of projects that construct or upgrade training facilities and site infrastructure. Engineers in FDE also work closely with subcontracted engineering and architectural firms as well as facility end users and operations engineering to develop integrated final designs for F&I projects. The group also provides support of the bid and procurement process, engineering field support during construction, commissioning and project close out.

Required Combination of Knowledge and Skill

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in engineering or science related field and 6 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree from an accredited college or university in engineering or science related field and 4 years of relevant experience.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with the design and system selection of heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems for commercial and industrial applications.
• Experience with building automation system operation, open/closed loop water treatment, air filtration and steam systems.
• Working knowledge of the Building Code of New York State, Mechanical Code of New York State, ASHRAE Fundamentals and ASME Standards.
• Experience with the development of engineering documents (e.g., cost estimates, design drawings, functional requirements, technical specifications and engineering analyses).
• Strong interpersonal and teaming skills and the ability to coordinate multi-discipline teams.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Familiarity with appropriate engineering software computer tools.
• Desire to share technical knowledge and mentor less experienced staff.

Pay Range

$92,900.00 - $145,200.00 annually

The Naval Nuclear Laboratory is operated for the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) by Fluor Marine Propulsion, LLC (FMP), a wholly owned subsidiary of Fluor Corporation.
