Molex possesses a rich heritage in the optical industry. We provide the strategy, planning, development and deployment for optical transceivers and sub-systems.
We are looking for a Mechanical Engineer who will contribute to the design of next generation transceivers, custom products, and tooling based on customer specifications. This person will be part of our Datacom and Telecom Solutions Business. As a Design Center, the group in Carlsbad specifically designs new transceiver assemblies, custom products, and tooling for global customers.

For this role, we anticipate paying $80,000 - $100,000 per year. This role is eligible for variable pay, issued as a monetary bonus or in another form.

We are looking for a Mechanical Engineer who will contribute to the design of next generation transceivers, custom products, and tooling based on customer specifications. What You Will Do
- Design Molex transceiver products. Modify components, assemblies, and detailed drawings using Siemens NX CAD software.
- Actively participate in Product Lifecycle Management and update BOMs as needed.
- Work closely with local and international Product Design and Process Engineers to develop and update components, assemblies, and process drawings.
- Actively engage suppliers and Procurement team, performing DFM and ensuring components conform to Molex quality standards.
- Perform hands-on DOEs to test performance and characteristics of components in a variety of conditions.
- Apply knowledge from heat transfer and mechanics of materials to optimize mechanical effectiveness of components and assemblies.
- Understand, support, and contribute to Molex TQM and Quality / Environmental Management Systems by following approved policies and procedures.
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Experience with 3D CAD design, spreadsheets, and MS Office Suite experience
- Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with local and international teams
- Good verbal and written communication skills that demonstrate the ability to express complex technical concepts clearly and concisely
What Will Put You Ahead
- Experience with Siemens NX
- Experience with SAP
- FEA Experience
