Position Summary:

Through his/her expertise and experience, the Mechanical/Automation Engineer provides mechanical design and automation through all phases of a research and development project. The engineer works within a team environment to collaborate and deliver world class results for projects supporting new and existing technology.

Main Accountabilities:
  • Through his/her expertise, contributes to the research and/or development of specific technologies, products and/or services within the given schedule, budget and scope constraints and ensuring adherence to established scientific good practices and/or design control policies.
  • Bears technical responsibility for assigned projects by defining, developing, and delivering innovative solutions.
  • Works globally within the cross functional engineering team to develop, improve and promote procedures and methods that facilitate the research and development of quality products or services and mitigates product related risks
  • Consistently provides recommendations for continuous improvements which integrate business criteria and meet quality assurance policies and good scientific practices
  • Creative and innovative thinker that excels in a fast-paced work environment
  • Good communication skills and ability to create and maintain clear design documentation, drawings and assemblies by following established standards


Studies and Experience:
  • Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline
  • 3+ years of experience preferred


Skills and Qualifications:
  • SolidWorks
  • Microfluidics
  • Robotics
  • Film consumable design
  • Vision system design
  • Automation and instrumentation - Allen Bradley PLC experience preferred
  • Micro pneumatic and hydraulic system design
  • Experience with statistics, process development and DOE
