Responsibilities
Collect and process blood specimens for testing and perform multiple clerical and processing functions.
- May draw and collect blood samples according to policy.
- Receive, centrifuge, accession, process and transport specimens
- Verify all related records.
- Work pending lists, order add-on tests, and resolve duplicate orders.
- Set up instruments.
- Maintain, clean, and sterilize equipment and work area following safety, cleanliness, and infection control procedures.
- Perform clerical duties which may include answering phones, reviewing EKGs, collecting patient demographic data for patient registration, ordering tests, ABNs, data entry and filing.
Licensure / Certification / Registration:
- Preferred Credential(s):
• BLS Provider. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Certification specializing in Phlebotomy credentialed from the American Society for Clinical
Pathology Board of Certification (ASCP-BOC).
• Phlebotomy Tech credentialed from the American Society of Phlebotomy Technicians.
• Medical Laboratory Assistant credentialed from the American Society for Clinical Pathology Board of
Certification (ASCP-BOC).
• Medical Laboratory Assistant credentialed from the American Medical Technologists (AMT).
• Tech credentialed from the American Society of Phlebotomy Technicians. All issuing authoritie
accepted.
Education:
- High School diploma equivalency OR 1 year of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
- Note: Required professional licensure/certification can be used in lieu of education or experience,
if applicable.
