Our Team

Located at 727 Washington Street Wellesley, MA 02481 (Club Building 1st Floor,) our Wellesley College Health Services team provides primary medical and gynecologic care to any Wellesley student who needs it. This includes urgent care, annual physicals, immunizations, and pharmacy services.

Schedule/Hours

We are open Monday through Thursday from 8:30am to 6:00pm and Fridays from 8:30am to 5:00pm. Shifts are staggered to ensure we have Medical Assistant coverage for all hours of operations.

The Opportunity

We are seeking a full-time, 40-hour Medical Assistant to support the practice on-site Monday through Friday. Our Medical Assistants play an integral part in the operations of our community-based physician practices. Dedicated to clinical support, the Medical Assistant ensures a smooth patient flow within the practice and assists in the examination and treatment of patients under the direction of physician or advanced practitioner.

Our support model is for our team of two medical assistants to work 1:1 with assigned providers.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Coordinates pre-visit preparations including addressing the special needs of patients (i.e. comfort measures, communication, and other appropriate issues), ensuring relevant labs and tests are scheduled and completed prior to office visit, organization of paper chart, etc.
  • Escorts patients to the exam rooms and take vital signs.
  • Performs a variety of patient care procedures within the Medical Assistant (MA) scope of practice, including but not limited to: injections and EKG's.
  • Obtains blood specimens in accordance with established procedures, while maintaining a professional, patient-sensitive atmosphere.
  • Provides assistance to providers with office procedures.
  • Prepares requisitions and submits specimens to the laboratory.
  • Sends in electronic prescriptions for patients that have been instructed by providers.
  • Communicates with patients regarding laboratory, imaging results and prescription instructions per practice protocol.
  • Cleans and restocks exam rooms.
  • Maintains the strictest confidentiality of any and all patient records including but not limited to treatment, diagnosis, history, medication, and financial status.

  • High school graduate or equivalent required.
  • Graduate of a Medical Assistant training program, nursing student, or Paramedic required.
  • National Medical Assistant Certification required.
  • CPR training required.
  • Experience working as a Medical Assistant preferred
  • Epic experience preferred
  • Primary care experience preferred
  • Phlebotomy experience preferred.
