Job Summary:
A non-certified healthcare provider employed by Erlanger Health System is responsible for direct and/or indirect care of patients. The employee will assist in the delivery of primary health care and patient care management under the direction of the physician. Duties also include voicemail, scheduling tests/procedures, and also notifying patients of those tests/procedures scheduled. The MA must have the ability to perform procedures and operate equipment necessary for patient care as directed by the physician.

This position is involved in a team-based approach to care. Team members are trained to meet the highest level of function for their role as per the State of Tennessee/Georgia guidelines. Is trained and assigned (as per their role and responsibilities) to coordinate care for patients and is trained and assigned to support patients/families/caregivers in self-management, self-efficacy and behavior change. Is trained and assigned (as per their role and responsibilities) to manage the practices' patient population. Participates in the practice's quality improvement process and performance evaluation.

Education:
Required:
High School diploma/equivalent. Completion of an accredited (or in process of accreditation within 2 years) Medical Assistant Program or completion of a governed Medical Assistant program or completed equivalent military training. De-escalation training, if applicable.

Minimum 6 months cardiac experience performing medical assistant duties in an office or clinic based medicine setting.

Phlebotomy skills

BLS prior to going to the unit/ department and maintained going forward

Department Position Summary:
Responsible for clinical support related to running a clinic under the direction of the physician. Duties also include voicemail, scheduling tests/procedures, and also notifying patients of those tests/procedures scheduled. The MA must have the ability to perform procedures and operate equipment necessary for patient care as directed by the physician. As a specialty office more detailed work is involved on a daily basis as well as situational occurrences.

Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span, possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status, and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirement relative to his or her age specific needs. The individual must be able to provide the care needed as described in the unit's policies and procedures.
