SUMMARY
The Medical Director is a Grady Health System physician that serves as the physician leader of Grady's population health programs. The medical director will co-lead, with the VP of Pop Health and the VP of Community Medicine, a range of clinical programs and initiatives in a strategic and data-driven way across the continuum to improve the value and efficiency of care delivery. This position will provide oversight and direction for the clinical design, implementation, and support of a system-wide pop health mgt program utilizing evidence-based practices that meet the needs of a safety-net patient population. This role acts as a change agent within the Grady provider community to promote the movement of the practice of medicine to value-based care and drive clinical outcome improvement. The Medical Director will provide direct clinical supervision to RNs, Advanced Practice Providers (APPs), physicians, care coordinators and/or other clinical or support staff. In addition to maintaining an active clinical footprint, the medical director will support the mission, vision, goals and values of Grady Hospital,
QUALIFICATIONS
MD or DO degree from an accredited school of medicine.
Board certified in Internal medicine, Family Medicine, or Preventive medicine.
Qualify for and maintain membership per medical staff guidelines.
Professional degree (e.g. MBA, MPH) preferred.
Five (5) years practicing as a primary care physician in an outpatient healthcare setting.
Five (5) years' experience with population health and associated experience in systems of care, managed care, care management, or medical policy development.
Preferred: Experience working in a safety-net facilities; Prior clinical leadership or supervision experience; Experience developing and implementing new processes/programs.
Licensed by the State of Georgia without restriction to practice medicine.
Board certified in a Primary Care specialty including internal medicine, pediatrics, family medicine or preventive medicine.
ACLS not required unless specified by their specialty/certification.
Working knowledge of quality measurement systems (e.g. HEDIS) and industry trends in policy and payer alternative payment programs (e.g. CMMI, ACOs)
Required Minimum Skills:
Demonstrated leadership skills and knowledge.
Strong interpersonal skills with ability to work collaboratively in multi-specialty medical groups.
Excellent physician relations skills and previous experience in growing volume and managing quality improvement.
Skills including strategy development, program evaluation, budget consideration, and execution of programs and services to achieve quality standards.
Excellent understanding of clinical and technology trends related to the delivery of healthcare services.
Excellent communication skills - verbal, written, listening, and presentation along with the confidence to favorably represent the organization in both formal and informal settings.
