Responsibilities
- Promote professionalism and interact with colleagues in a way that promotes a cooperative working environment.
- Display technical expertise necessary to ensure timely and accurate results of laboratory procedures.
- Ensure specimens are obtained and processed in accordance with laboratory guidelines.
- Demonstrate proper communication skills to relate pertinent data or information about the patient or laboratory sample to appropriate care provider.
- Support organizational priorities to maintain compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards.
- Attain required competency and demonstrates the ability to follow procedural directions and protocols.
- Exhibit problem-solving skills to troubleshoot and evaluate critical laboratory results.
- Participate in the training/mentoring of new employees, students or interns including lectures and bench techniques.
- Able to prioritize and organize workload and assist other coworkers to maintain productivity.
- Demonstrate proper infection control practices, proper patient identification, performs proper prompt specimen transport.
- Responsible for other duties as assigned.
- Engage in self-evaluation of practice and takes action to improve knowledge and skills.
- Promote consensus building and applies techniques of conflict resolution and conduct improvement.
- Retain accountability for quality of care given to the patient.
- Promote service excellence and growth of the laboratory.
Qualifications
Job Requirements:
- Baccalaureate Degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or a chemical, physical or biological science OR Associates degree in Medical Laboratory Technician studies, or a chemical, physical or biological science associates degree.
Preferred Job Requirements:
- ASCP or equivalent. Certification within a specific area, i.e. M(ASCP), H(ASCP), C(ASCP) qualifies.
- Previous clinical laboratory experience as a Medical Laboratory Technician, Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Scientist or Medical Laboratory Scientist within a clinical laboratory
