The Director, Retrieval and Processing is responsible for developing and implementing strategies to improve the functions deliverables of retrieval and processing operations. This includes overseeing the day-to-day operations of chart retrieval, field logistics, document management and engagement with third retrieval partners.

The leader in this role actively contributes to the overall company operational targets as well as the daily business decisions needs, whiles continually engaging in leading and inspiring their team in developing and documenting best practices in the performance of all duties and responsibilities.

This growth-focused role will require understanding what a best-in-class process should look like, instrumenting and measuring where we are, brainstorming and prioritizing solutions, and filling gaps. Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide strong, dynamic leadership that mentors, develops, and guides team members to efficiently execute for retrieval operations
  • Develop OKRs that drive continues scalability and growth in retrieval business
  • Develop, implement and maintain effective internal and external Quality Assurance (QA) programs fostering continuous improvement and exceeding Service Level Agreement (SLA) performance
  • Assess current processing operations, develop plan to assess what is missing and deliver solutions that support them in their delivery of retrieval services
  • Organize and provide management, front-line initiatives and performance reporting as well as communication for key strategic retrieval and processing engagement partners
  • Evaluate technological tools in place and engage relevant stakeholders on possible solutions
  • Develop and maintain effective organization of responsibility, including efficient recruiting, training, coaching, recognition, workflow patterns, performance standards, delineation of duties and responsibilities, staffing levels and supervision
  • Manages senior level professionals and/or career level people managers
  • Manages activities of multi-faceted function and/or product with some global remit
  • Ensures the development and execution of people objectives are directly aligned to Company strategy

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of relevant work experience in healthcare operations experience
  • 3+ years of experience working with medical record retrievals
  • 3+ years managerial experience with direct reports
  • 2+ years of direct experience driving strategy on operational process improvements
  • Experience implementing technical solutions to improve operational efficiencies
  • Experience in a data-driven operational work environment with continuous monitoring of program metrics
  • Deep understanding of operations, effective healthcare operations management and improvement methodologies
  • Proficient in MS Office with solid Excel skills (pivot tables, v-lookups)
  • Proven effective leadership and analytical skills including working knowledge of cost analysis, staffing models, scheduling, and telecom opportunities
  • Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders (across different geographies) and communicate well at all levels in a matrixed environment
  • Proven ability and willingness to travel up to 10%

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Managerial or Supervisory experience in medical record retrieval industry
  • Experience leading a remote team
  • Experience managing document retention and processing
  • Salesforce CRM

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
