Medical scribes, or medical transcriptionists, assist physicians or other healthcare professionals by performing clerical tasks and taking notes during patient consultations. Medical scribes generally use an electronic health record (EHR) system to record the patient information. Will also assist with callbacks and in-baskets. Also ensure all encounters are closed.

This position is full-time, Monday - Friday Employees are required to work 8-hour shift schedule during our normal business hours of 7:00am - 3:00pm EST. Some weekend coverage may be required. It may be necessary, given the business need, to work occasional overtime. Our office is located at 714 10th Street, Secaucus, NJ

We offer weeks of on-the-job training. The hours during training will be 7:00am to 3:00pm EST, Monday - Friday.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Accurately scribe as the physician is examining patient
  • Maintain adherence to transcription quality assurance standards
  • Demonstrate appropriate grammar, punctuation and style standards when transcribing/ editing provider dictations
  • Demonstrate knowledge of anatomy, physiology and pharmacology
  • Demonstrate knowledge of medical terminology for appropriate medical specialties
  • Demonstrate knowledge of medical / surgical procedures and equipment for appropriate medical specialties
  • Demonstrate knowledge of medications / dosages for appropriate medical specialties
  • Assist with callbacks and in-baskets
  • Ensures all encounters are closed.

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma / GED OR 1+ year of experience
  • Experience with computers including windows based programs
  • Understanding of medical terminology from education or previous on-the-job training
  • Must be 18 years of age OR older
  • Ability to work full-time, Monday - Friday between 7:00am - 3:00pm EST including the flexibility to work occasional overtime given the business need

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Work experience as a medical scribe in a fast-paced clinical environment
  • Experience with E-Clinical Works/Epic EMR
  • Ability to type 60+ words per minute

New Jersey Residents Only: The hourly range for New Jersey residents is $16.54 - $32.55 per hour. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
