Heritage Oaks Hospital is currently looking for a full-time Medical-Psychiatric Unit (MPU) Coordinator to join our Nursing Team! The Medical-Psychiatric Unit Coordinator functions as an active part of the nursing unit team by providing clerical functions for the medical-psychiatric unit. The MPU Coordinator oversees the daily operations of the unit, ensuring efficient delivery of patient care and adherence to quality standards. They coordinate staffing, handle supplies and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes and foster a supportive work environment for nursing staff.
  • Demonstrate responsibility in managing the milieu for their assigned unit.
  • Document patient observations, as needed, both accurately and promptly in medical records, ensuring continuity of care and providing valuable information for care planning.
  • Maintain electronic and paper medical records, ensuring completeness, accuracy, and confidentiality in compliance with healthcare regulations.

Qualifications

Education : Graduate from an accredited licensed vocational nursing program or certified medical assistant program.

Experience: A minimum of one (1) year experience in an acute care setting. Additional psychiatric experience and/or bedside patient care experience preferred.

Licensure/Certification: Current and unrestricted license from the California Board of Vocational Nursing and Psychiatric Technicians or medical assistant certification.

Additional Requirements: Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation / Basic Life Support (CPR/BLS) certification upon hire and successful completion of Verbal De-escalation training along with Handle with Care (HWC) training (provided in-house during orientation).
