Position Summary:
The Medicare Sales Associate is responsible for finding Medicare solutions for beneficiaries by explaining Health Alliance Medicare benefits and plans to prospective members. The Medicare Sales Associate's duties also include resolving eligibility and enrollment related questions and responding to internal and external customer inquiries that may be received via email, phone, and in-person. This position requires the ability to work a flexible schedule to ensure all Medicare regulations and retail office location staffing assignments are met. The Medicare Sales Associate may be tasked with the sales of other consumer products (ie. Individual & Family Plans) throughout the year. Retail office location is in Champaign, IL. Mix of remote and on location job assignment is possible.

CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS
Insurance Producer License Applicable Life, Accident and Health Insurance within 3 months.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Minimum three years direct selling or telemarketing experience or one year experience in a health related field required. Working with senior population may be substituted for experience in a health related field. Experience with Medicare strongly preferred.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Must successfully complete Medicare certification (3 attempts)
  • Must successfully complete product exams (3 attempts)


SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
Sales experience with managed care and/or Medicare sales experience preferred. Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word required. Microsoft Excel preferred. Experience with a computer based documentation system or customer relationship management (CRM) software to track inquiries received is preferred. Ability to apply problem solving and time management methodology to organization problems is required. Demonstrated public speaking ability required. Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with external and internal contacts both verbally and in written correspondence. Ability to interpret and make decisions based on prospective member needs, corporate underwriting guidelines, as well as federal regulations relating to Medicare Advantage. Strong attention to detail and capability to meet established productivity and quality standards. Ability to lift 50 pounds of collateral material. Must have access to reliable transportation.

Essential Functions:
  • Actively promotes Health Alliance Medicare products by evaluating and recommending sponsorship opportunities and represents in person at community events, expos and health fairs. Participates in identification of promotional materials and specialty items for distribution. Participates in development of marketing strategies to compete with other individuals or companies who sell insurance.
  • In compliance with applicable Divisions of Insurance and Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services sales and marketing regulations, markets products in designated sales territory working to meet or exceed annual sales goal.
  • Pursues leads generated by internal marketing efforts and seeks out new prospects through networking. Screens prospects for plan eligibility and ensures application requirements are fulfilled.
