Job Duties

Sitter & Barfoot Veterans Care Center is seeking a Memory Care Activities Coordinator for the shift of Friday-Tuesday, 10:30am-8:00pm, to provided approve therapeutic recreation programs for residents with dementia. Qualified candidates will help carry out the objective of the facility as part of total resident care and ensuring the protection of residents during these activities.

• Assists in the design and development of recreational and leisure programs to meet the assessed needs, interest, and capabilities of the patients in a long-term nursing care environment.
• Assists patients in acquiring knowledge related to leisure resource utilization; including but not limited to the setting up of, usage of, and troubleshooting of electronic devices, systems, and programs.
• Provides information to the Memory Care Programming Specialist by assessing and documenting patients' abilities and needs and records patient participation in activity groups to provide information for the overall assessment of programming needs.
• Attends patient evaluations conferences and all other appropriate meetings as necessary.
• Confers with other center personnel, superiors, and families regarding patient interest, as well as their needs and limitations.
• Complete all required paperwork to ensure that all activities conform to the criteria of federal, state, and local accreditation and licensing agencies or organizations.
• Maintains high standards of professional conduct and promotes the wellbeing of all residents of the center.
• Follow all safety rules and regulations.
• Maintains clean and safe environments ensuring orderly work area throughout the unit are maintained.
• All other duties as assigned by management.

Minimum Qualifications

• Knowledge of recreational activities with demonstrated experience in conducting resident activities.
• Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services including but not limited to
• Customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction
• The ability to read and understand information and ideas presented in writing.
• Must possess the physical ability to turn, bend and lift without restrictions.

Additional Considerations

• A college degree or course work in therapeutic recreation or another related human service area preferred.
• National Certification Council Activity Professional certification preferred.
• Experience providing activities programing in a long-term care or adult geriatric setting preferred.
