SUMMARY

The Mental Health (MH) Clinician provides services to people who experience serious mental illness and process utilization review. Utilization review is a process designed to ensure that medical care is effective, efficient, and in line with evidence-based standards of care. Utilization reviewer manages care

techniques such as prior authorization that allow payers, particularly health insurance companies, to manage the cost of health care benefits by assessing its appropriateness before it is provided using evidence-based criteria or guidelines.

This includes assessment, recovery focused treatment planning, group and individual training, and group and individual counseling, as well providing crisis intervention if necessary. May provide clinical quality review of other's work. Provides service coordination and/or linkage to community services that meet the needs of the individual patient/consumer and engages in crisis prevention and management as necessary. May work in the hospital, outpatient clinic, or community settings, including support provided in the home, at work/school, or in shelters.

QUALIFICATIONS

Master's degree in Counseling or Behavioral Sciences is required.

Two (2) years of experience with the SPMI and/or Additive Disease population, preferably in a full-time status, is required.
