Job Description

Provide Association leadership of mental health programs and services to members and staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in psychology, mental health & wellness, or counseling required.
• Experience in program development and Christian emphasis, preferred.
• Willingness to attend meetings, training, and obtain additional certification as requested.

Essential Functions

• In tandem with the Spiritual Development Director, establish relationships and create collaborations between the Y, school districts, area churches, and health organizations to enhance the Y mission and ensure connections between spiritual health and mental health.
• Coordinate, plan, and implement programming and member services for Association branches that enhance mental health (i.e., peer support groups, mental health showcase, etc.).
• Work with other program directors to integrate mental health curriculum into YMCA programs to create an environment that destigmatizes mental health and teaches participants that mental is only one component of overall health.
• Create a network of referral resources for staff, volunteers, and members (i.e., crisis intervention, human resource needs, clinical care, etc.).
• Attend and give presentations or mission moments at board, staff and Association meetings and events.
• Provide training and education opportunities to staff and volunteers involved with all program and service areas.
• Create and maintain internal publication on mental health and mission accomplished articles.
