Mental Health Technician - Pedi Psych

Responsibilities

Track any behavioral changes in patients that may be of use to healthcare providers

Chart patient observations following prescribed procedures and standards

Participate in the development and implementation of patient treatment programs

Maintain confidentiality of patient records

Transport patients to and from appointments, clinics, laboratories and/or treatments as needed

Perform initial patient evaluations to determine treatment priorities, such as taking vital signs, weight, as well as urine, stool and sputum specimens

Requirements and skills

Proven work experience as a Mental Health Technician or similar role

Ability to remain professional and respectful when assisting stressed patients

A valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle would be beneficial

Relevant training and/or certifications as a Mental Health Technician

 Pedi Psych Days/Eves Rotate & EOW – 40hrs.

*** Shifts: 7:00am - 3:30pm & 3:00pm - 11:30pm.

1) Unit Name: Epstein 2 Pediatric Psychiatry.

2) Brief Unit Description: Inpatient Program, patients ages 3 to 18 years of age who require inpatient stay receive 24-hour care through our child and adolescent services program. We offer a nurturing and non-coercive environment.

3) Years of Experience Required: 2 years minimum.

4) Skill Sets Required: Trauma informed, patient-centered, and verbally capable of de-escalating patients.

5) Clinician to Patient Ratio: 1:2 to 1:2.75.

6) Patient Population: Children and Adolescents ages 3-18.

7) Bed Count: 30.

8) Census: 12-25.

9) EMR (Charting System): EPIC.

10) Floating Required: Yes, to other behavioral health areas within the Epstein Units and AMHU.

11) Rotating Shifts Required: Yes, up to 20% for Day positions. Not required for Night positions.

12) Certifications: Bachelors Preferred. BLS Preferred.

Certification: Basic Life Support
