The duties include but are not limited to:
  • Visits alternative certified teachers in their school assignments according to a schedule developed by the Human Resources Personnel Administrators.
  • Instructs the alternative certified teachers in the use of good classroom management and instruction skills.
  • Communicates with local school administrators and Human Resources Personnel Administrators the progress and or needs of the alternative certified teachers.
  • Monitors the alternative teachers who have not taken or passed the Praxis exam.
  • Monitors that the alternative teachers are taking the required college coursework.
  • Writes monthly summaries of teacher visits conducted to be emailed or turned in when payroll and mileage is submitted.
  • Assists with the establishment of objectives and plans learning experiences.
  • Assists with the implementation of activities using a variety of techniques that utilize instructional time to meet objectives.
  • Assists in the establishment and maintenance of standards of student behavior to achieve a functional learning atmosphere.
  • Exhibits positive human relations skills.
  • Serves as a support for the new teachers.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in written and oral communication.
  • Maintains and submits records and reports.
  • Adheres to school system rules, administrative procedures, local board policies, and state and federal rules and regulations.
  • Demonstrates professional ethics and leadership.


QUALIFICATIONS:

Must have current Alabama Teacher Certification in a major subject such as Math, Science, or Language Arts, in grades 6-8 or grades 9-12.

Must have successful teaching experience of 15 years or more in Mobile County Public Schools.

Must have dependable transportation so as to be able to visit MCPSS high and middle schools.

Must have knowledge of the MCPSS Student Database and Schoology as used by teachers.

Must be knowledgeable in the use of technology in the classroom and email.

Must have favorable teacher evaluations and principal recommendation from the last school assigned.

SALARY NOTE: This is a part-time position only. Will be paid by the hour. Five to fifteen hours a week during the most busy times. Schedule can be flexible.

**Applicants selected for certified positions must have undergone an ABI/FBI criminal history background check (fingerprinting administered through sites selected and approved by the MCPSS and State of Alabama Education Department) and been declared suitable and fit to teach under state law. Applicants selected must also pass a drug-screening test via forms provided by Human Resources during the selection process.**
