Wyoming Valley Behavioral Hospital is setting the stage for a new beginning. Formally known as First Hospital, WVBH will be in the same building but have a fresh perspective and approach. Healing our patients with a combination of compassion medication and therapy, allowing for a successful recovery and reentry into their regular routine. We are looking for Mental Health Technicians who can remains calm and enhances an environment with compassion to people seeking help for serious symptoms of mental illness. The ideal candidate would be familiar with Trauma Informed Care theory and practice.Interested candidates should be compassionate, understanding and interested in working as a team member to build and maintain an environment of support and recovery for people living with mental illness. Candidates will have opportunities to build their knowledge and skills about treatments for people with mental illness.

*AVAILABLE SHIFTS: 1st, 2nd, and 3rd shift part time and 3rd shift full time *

Position Summary:
  • Assist to plan, implement, evaluate, and monitor patients' treatments.
  • Help to educate patients and their families about recovery from symptoms of mental illness.
  • Perform administrative duties like recording and keeping medical records.
  • Help to gather relevant information to assist implementation of therapeutic activities.
  • Report changes in patients' behaviors to the medical team.
  • Ensure the coordination of all related mental health services.
  • Help patients with personal hygiene.
  • Assist patients in their daily activities.
  • Lead group sessions
  • Assist with patients' therapeutic activities.
  • Ensure the safety of all patients.
  • Assist in maintaining cleanliness of the psychiatric unit.

Educational Requirements: High School diploma required. 1 yr. equivalent work experience in psychiatric/addictive disease treatment preferred.
