General Description:
The Microsoft 365 Enterprise Engineer administrators and manages Microsoft cloud services for the college's end-user production environment. This position is responsible for technical delivery and adoption of Microsoft 365 tools, including, but not limited to Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, Teams, Entra ID Active Directory, Defender Suite, Advanced Threat Protection and Security and Compliance Suite, Purview Suite, and InTune. This position Administers, configures, and monitors third-party security tools that integrate with Microsoft 365 to ensure data security and compliance with federal and state policies, including, but not limited to FERPA, CJIS, HIPAA.

Duties and Tasks:
  • Provide technical assistance for the deployment and use of Microsoft 365 tools, in particular (but not limited to) Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Teams, OneDrive, Entra ID Active Directory, Defender Suite, Advanced Threat Protection and Security and Compliance Suite, Purview Suite, and InTune.
  • Work with Microsoft 365 Enterprise Administrator, Microsoft 365 team, IT leadership, end-users, and team members to evaluate solutions and implement solutions that achieve business objectives with a focus on user adoption of cloud tools.
  • Manage and implement changes to the enterprise Microsoft 365 environment including on-premise hybrid integrations such as Microsoft Active Directory Federated Services (ADFS) and Azure Active Directory Connect.
  • Work in collaboration with Microsoft 365 Enterprise Administrator on Microsoft 365 entitlements including various licensing levels and license requirements/add-ons to fulfill the college's initiatives.
  • Review and execute legal holds and E-discovery for Microsoft 365.
  • In accordance of VCCS and NVCC polices, review and research policies and rules for Threat policies, Alert policies, and Activity alerts.
  • Diagnose and remediate Cloud apps Activity logs for all Microsoft Suite Apps, end-user Audit logs, end-user Sign-in logs, and end-user Multi-Factor Authentication and Password attempts and logs.
  • Research and review Data Loss Prevention polices and Retention polices and procedures to align with VCCS and NVCC level of complexity.
  • Research and implement Data Classification on Microsoft 365 applications to align with VCCS and NVCC policies.
  • Maintain and support Varonis, Avanan, Valimail, and Microsoft 365 security tools in collaboration with IT Security and IT Server Teams.
  • Diagnose, remediate, and maintenance of Microsoft 365 Security Tools for audit, compliance, and security purposes to align with VCCS mandates and levels of complexity.
  • Identify, research, and keep abreast of emerging cloud technologies, solutions, strategies, and developments with the goal of identifying opportunities for their use.
  • Work collaboratively with other members of the IT team to ensure security standards and best practices are applied and maintained across the Microsoft 365 environment.
  • Perform other duties and/or responsibilities as assigned to meet the needs and priorities of the unit, division or college.
  • Work may be assigned at any college location.
  • Must be able to pass background check, including, but not limited to CJIS Level 4 and FBI and Virginia State Police.
Minimum Qualifications:

Required KSAs:
  • Demonstrated knowledge of current and developing technologies related to Microsoft 365 solutions.
  • Demonstrated advanced analytical and problem resolution skills.
  • Client-centric and able to work in a variety of environments; must be able to manage customer relationships.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with senior management, technical peers, vendors, and users. Strong verbal and written communications skills.
  • Ability to work in a team environment to accomplish organizational objectives.
  • General knowledge of networking concepts, technologies, structured database and application/web servers including SharePoint.
  • Knowledge of networking concepts and Windows Server Operating Systems.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft SharePoint Online with an understanding of overall architecture, hierarchy, and administration.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Experience with Microsoft 365 Suite administration, engineering, architecture and design at an enterprise level.
  • Experience with Azure services, configuration options, and on-premise integrations.
  • Knowledge and experience using PowerShell to manage Microsoft 365.
Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of and Extensive experience with Microsoft Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, and Teams.
  • Experience with Microsoft Entra ID Active Directory and Advanced Threat Protection.
  • Demonstrated understanding of and experience with network principles and Windows operating systems.
  • Demonstrated understanding of and experience with IT security best practices including mitigation and remediation strategies at an enterprise-level.
  • One or more Microsoft 365 certifications is a plus.
