HDR is seeking a Transit Engineering Leader to guide a successful and growing practice in the Mid-Atlantic (Washington DC, Maryland and Virginia). This leader will provide programmatic and technical leadership as well as project management for a variety of transit engineering related contracts and clients. This position requires strong management skills and experience working with a variety of transit capital projects such as track, structures, facilities and systems. In addition to leading delivery efforts, this role will also guide program growth, client engagement and industry involvement.

The ideal candidate will have experience with local transit agencies such as the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority, the Maryland Transit Administration, Virginia Railway Express, Virginia Passenger Rail Authority and the Virginia Department of Rail and Public Transportation.

The successful candidate will also demonstrate knowledge of applicable Federal, State, and Local standards and requirements and will have extensive knowledge of transit focused project delivery processes such as conceptual design and feasibility, environmental documentation, preparation of Plans, Specifications, and Estimate (PS&E), and providing Design Support During Construction (DSDC).

In the role of Mid-Atlantic Transit Engineering Leader, we'll count on you to:

  • Provide programmatic and technical leadership for transit engineering disciplines
  • Deliver project management for a variety of transit engineering related contracts (track, structures, facilities and systems) for our clients
  • Guide program growth, client engagement and industry involvement
  • Establish client relations and be involved with marketing and client development activities
  • Prepare scopes and fees for a variety of contracts and projects
  • Collaborate with other disciplines on staff assignments and assignment priorities
  • Contract management
  • Team growth and mentorship of junior staff
  • Perform other duties as needed

  • Actively engaged in professional or industry associations to enhance HDR technical expertise and brand
  • Preference given to local candidates

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a Professional, Architecture, Engineering or closely related field
  • 10 years of experience
  • Committed to quality, improvement and HDR values
  • Maintains a professional or engineering registration and has related technical experience experienced in development and management of diverse teams
  • Works cooperatively with other area business class leaders, operations managers, technical directors and marketing managers on business class efforts
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
