QUALIFICATIONS:

A Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university is preferred.

Experience with an Adapted Physical Education environment is preferred.

Previous field/team league management experience is preferred.

Must be able to read and write effectively.

Must be able to read and comprehend service order and repair request documents and to write out job completion information. Basic math skills are necessary to review purchase receipts and timekeeping information.

Must be able to comprehend instruction on operation of equipment of all types and use of chemicals.

Must have the ability to perform maintenance functions.

Must be knowledgeable about and be able to use stadium and groundskeeping equipment including but not limited to: electric and power tools, i.e., saws, drill motors, table tools, etc., electric buffers, strippers, mop, push broom, power lawn equipment, riding mower, tractor, flail mower, gas weed trimmer, edger, rake, shovel.

Must be able to perform duties assigned on a recurring basis with minimum supervision.

Must be able to detect by observation life safety conditions.

Must be able to work cooperatively with administrators, faculty, staff, students, parents and community.

Must be able to respond positively to supervision and accept suggestions for improvement.

Must be willing to assist with stadium and/or field management for other stadiums/fields used or accessed by Mobile County Public Schools.

The duties include but are not limited to:
  • The goal of the Manager is to coordinate the operations of the Miracle League of West Mobile: Schmidt Family Park
  • The Manager is expected to coordinate and be present at all game days and practices except for unexpected personal emergencies.
  • Assists with opening stadium(s) in morning and securing stadium(s) at night.
  • Operates heating and air conditioning systems.
  • Operates public address system, stadium lights and scoreboard.
  • Responsible for athletic field maintenance.
  • Setup and maintain fields.
  • Responsible for game day preparation of athletic fields.
  • Responsible for clean-up after each event.
  • Cleans locker rooms, restrooms and coaches' offices.
  • Repairs, removes or secures any unsafe equipment, reports same to the Athletic Department.
  • Receives supplies, checks inventory, requests janitorial supplies for stadium.
  • Reports vandalism immediately to Athletic Department and sends reports.
  • Light maintenance functions, makes minor repairs such as replacing faucet handles, door knobs and door adjustments, glass repairs, painting, plumbing, electrical, etc.
  • Replaces light gloves or fluorescent tubes.
  • Responsible for all fencing around stadium, mowing and upkeep.
  • Works in all weather conditions and seasons.
  • Coordinate buddy's and other volunteers (e.g. announcers, coaches, pitchers, catchers).
  • Maintain game supplies (e.g. balls, bats, uniforms).
  • Coordinate the set-up and tear down of equipment.
  • Coordinate the set-up of PA system and dugout if necessary.
  • General Field and facility walkthrough prior to games for safety check.
  • Coordinate field and facility clean up after games.
  • Use of social media and other forms of communication with volunteers and families.
  • Contact existing participants (players and families) via phone and email.
  • Coordinate new player registration each season (Spring and Fall).
    1. Collect and file registration forms.
    2. Collect and file Medical Release forms.
  • Disseminate information on upcoming events (cc copy to the Board).
  • Deliver league updates to Miracle League Board of Directors.
  • Develop and maintain electronic database of players with team rosters.
  • Serve as primary contact for players and families and all things involving Miracle Field.
  • Coordinate player photo days and get photo for the Scoreboard for each player.
  • Procure and distribute player uniforms.
  • Coordinate end of year awards and program.
  • Incorporate special events into game days.
  • Help coordinate and if possible, represent MCPSS Miracle League at events and information fairs as approved by the Board.
  • Help coordinate and if possible, make presentations to community groups and media as requested.
  • Track volunteers and follow-up with them to (1) thank volunteers for their support, and (2) ensure continued support in the future.
  • Ensure each team has at least 1 coach at every game.
  • Help plan and run special events as needed.
  • Conduct Volunteer Meetings as needed.
  • Conduct training for coaches and buddies as needed.
  • Submit names for background check for new coaches to the Board as required.
  • Attends all games.
  • Conducts communication with all stakeholders.
  • Ensure each team has proper staffing and everything they need.
  • Handle schedules and events for other fields as they are built.
  • Other duties and tasks for the benefit of the MCPSS including assistance at other fields/stadiums.

SALARY: Beginning pay: $40,773.00

**Applicants selected for classified positions must undergo (or have undergone) an ABI/FBI criminal history background check (fingerprinting administered through sites selected and approved by the MCPSS and State of Alabama Education Department) and be declared suitable and fit to teach under state law. Applicants selected must also pass a drug-screening test via forms provided by Human Resources during the selection process.**
