About the role:

Our charter is to accelerate data driven decision making to drive cost leadership in semiconductor manufacturing. The role is centrally located within IT in support of our manufacturing engineers and enterprise operational teams. Our team owns the entire manufacturing data domain for the company
  • You will be leading a highly technical team of six to ten application developers, system architects, and data scientists supported by an adjacent team of data engineers
    • The application developers on the team build algorithms / user interfaces / solver engines, integrate vendor tools, and consume curated data for the purpose of capacity modeling across our factories
    • The data scientists on the team study, design, and deploy machine learning models and generative AI for applications in anomaly detection, internal chatbots (LLM, RAG), material movement optimization, capacity modeling, image processing, and event prediction
    • The system architect brings it all together aligning your strategic vision to tangible implementation of solutions that drive business outcomes

Roles and duties
      • We are seeking a technical leader who is:
        • passionate about the state of the art in: data science, manufacturing, data, advanced analytics, simulation, modeling (both in the AI / ML context as well as a general aptitude), and radically simple, top-down architecture
        • capable of finding the right balance in solutions using data, software, and analytics (statistics, AI/ML)
        • able to set the strategic direction and validate pragmatic usage of AI / ML proposed by the team on a case-by-case basis
      • In this role, you will be expected to:
        • understand the user's problem statement and ensure that our applications/models run smoothly and meet stakeholder's needs
        • participate in the architecture and design of the solution, research the domain, oversee the team as they build / train / test the appropriate ML pipelines
        • work with our team of data engineers to integrate data, and deploy the model(s) into production environments
        • work with manufacturing leaders and subject matter experts ensuring solutions can be deployed, monitored (for drift), interdict the tools in real time, and are easy to maintain for the long term
      • In this role, your team is expected to use techniques and platforms such as:
        • NN, GNN, RAG, LoRA, RL, RLHM, Gen-AI, LLM, deep learning, classification, K-means clustering, PCA, correlation analysis
        • Python, numpy, pandas, Dataiku, linear programming, operations research, Optimization, linear algebra, min-max, Markov chain, Simplex method, Design structure matrix
        • Monte carlo simulation, stochastic simulation, non-deterministic simulation
        • Data mesh / fabric / scaled architectures, big data analytics and analysis, signal theory
        • Modeling methods and platforms: Siemens, PlantSim, AMAT AutoMod, AMAT Factory Planning
        • DataOps, MLOps, MLdevOps


Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Mathematics, or related field
  • 5+ years of relevant professional experience

Preferred Qualifications:
  • MS degree in Data Science
  • BS degree in one or more of: Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Mathematics
  • 2+ years as a technical leader of a data science team
  • 2+ years as an individual contributor doing applied AI or ML or advanced analytics
  • 5+ years' experience in application/software development or extensive use of Python
  • Experience in semiconductor manufacturing (fabrication, assembly, test)
  • Experience in material movement and real time dispatch and scheduling
  • Optimization experience in one or more of the following: capacity modeling, linear programming, operations research
