Under the general direction of the Cal Expo Chief of Plant Operations and direct supervision of the Monorail Operations Supervisor, the Monorail Mechanic performs interval service, preventive maintenance and repairs on the California State Fair Monorail amusement ride, ensuring its successful inspection by regulatory authorities and operation for the annual California State Fair.

Working Conditions

• Requires working with and near fast-moving machinery and heavy motorized vehicles.

Desirable Qualifications In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:

• Experience in mechanical engineering.
• Experience in electrical contracting and/or engineering.
• Knowledge of safe and proper electrified tram maintenance and operation.
• Knowledge of programable Logic Controllers.
• Knowledge of three phase electrical conduction and connections.
• Knowledge of electrical motor and switchgear diagnosis and repair.
• Experience working with high-voltage electricity, generators, and transfer switches.
• During annual State Fair operations, must be available to work scheduled shifts.
• Dependability and reliability; excellent attendance.
• Willingness to be a team player and do what is necessary to the benefit of Monorail operations.
• Possession of a current mobile elevated work platform certification.
